Learning Outcomes [ASSURE (State Objectives)]

Upon reading the printout of our concept map and seeing the visuals in the presentation, our 5th
grade students will accurately recognize all the 7 health problems previously listed.

Instructional Materials & Media [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and
Materials)]

Our overall strategy is to use Prezi and Concept map with the help of Bubble.us. These were
chosen since these vocabulary items require visual recognition which is a must to perceive such
situations.

Learning-Teaching Methods [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]

- Presentation method will be used in the first lesson via prezi to introduce new vocabulary items.

-The reading part, based on Grammar Translation Method, will be carried out with the printouts of
the concept map.

- Total Physical Response will be used to help the students grasp these words.
Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require Learner
Participation)]

Considering the fact that our learners are 5th graders, the first week is mainly built on visual activity
and gaming as a warm-up session. We believe this was necessary to keep the students cognitively
engaged in the lesson.

Individual Learning Activities Learners will read the print out of concept map
shown on Prezi

Group Learning Activities -

Summary

In the first lesson, students will be introduced to the topic by means of a concept map and
presentation on Prezi that include just the vocabulary part of the lesson to attract their attention.

Measurement & Evaluation

A game led by the teacher at the end of the lesson so that he/she could observe if the students
could identify the illnesses.

Explanation

The teacher will only observe whether the students could apply their knowledge in real time
situations by roleplaying and asking the students to define his/her problem. It is just a beginning
rather than a take it or leave it session. That is, the teacher does not grade the learners at this point
since they are on the process of learning.

Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan

The teacher will first distribute the print outs of the concept map and and help students read and
pronounce them. The teacher will later open up the Prezi presentation and show the pictures of the
health problems in order to help students match the vocabulary items with the visuals.
There may be technical problems with the computer because of an electricity cut. If there is an
electricity cut, the teacher will hang the pictures from prezi on the board and distribute the concept
map prepared on bubbl.us as an handout.
