the crown of righteousness. We are often tempted to
bask in the glory of our former days. We often refer
to the “time” when we experienced the goodness of
God, or the “time” when we worked for the king-
dom of God. But like Paul, we need to forget what is
behind and keep pressing forward. Paul had much to
boast of and many successes to hold onto, but He
says, “What is more, I consider everything a loss
because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ
Jesus my Lord...” (Philippians 3:8). Let your desire
to know God be the driving force of your life this
year, so that in Him you may find completeness
every day and not just in a memory of a time gone
by.
