Old Post Office Gets a New Lease of

Life….
It has been a couple of months since the village post
office services moved to the shop leaving our old post
office at a bit of a loose end… but no more, as it is now
a finely stocked vintage, retro and rather curious
salvage shop. Elizabeth’s Finders Keepers officially
opened its doors following a grand opening on
Saturday 24th September, with, it must be said, some
brisk trade quickly
underway.

As well as being able to purchase some

rather quirky items, the shop notice
board is a sea of old photographs from
Kinnerton`s past. It is certainly worth
a look as you walk in…

Elizabeth’s Finders Keepers is also on

Facebook, if you would like a sneak
peek at new (old) stock. And, for those
looking for something specific
Elizabeth has many contacts who may
be able to find you that hat stand or
1976 Panini football sticker you always
wanted. Don’t be afraid to ask.

The Post Office has been a cornerstone of Higher Kinnerton

village life for decades. The postal services moving to the
village shop marks a change in line with many rural villages
and communities. Well deserved thanks to Post Mistress Sue
Lightfoot for so many years of sterling service. Happy
retirement Sue.

Village Newsletter. Over the last 12 months the new colour village newsletter
has been a great success. The new village website looks great so we have
changed the look of the newsletter to suit …. If the village likes it then we shall
keep it…

Higher Kinnerton Drama Society
Kinnerton Drama Society (KDS) is currently trying to gain new
members to get involved. Whether it is performing, working
backstage, building sets or anything we would really appreciate the
help. This years production is ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’.
Rehearsals are in the Village Hall every Tuesday evening at 6.30pm If you need any further details

Higher Kinnerton Community Council

Elections for the nine Community Councillors posts will take place during May next year. A number
of the current council members will be standing down so places will be available. HKCC is one of the
most progressive community councils within Flintshire, we are seen as an example to others in
terms of our governance, finance and community focus. If you would like to become a community

Kinnerton Under Fives
Playgroup runs on Monday and Wednesday
( we are currently taking names for a
Tuesday.) Sessions are 9.15 -11.45. Baby
group runs on Friday morning 9.15-11.15. All
session take place in the Blue Room Village
hall. Kinnerton Under Fives is a registered
charity and is run by parents for parents. If
you would like to join our committee please

Autumn Jumble
Sale.- Saturday 8th
October 2016 at the
Scout HQ, starting
at 2.00pm.
Admission 30p
The Scout Group will be holding a Book Sale of
pre-owned books on Saturday 19th
November. Come and have a cup of coffee
and a cake, and browse at your leisure. 10am
to 12-30. Put the date in your diary and come
and stock up so you can curl up with a good
book on winter evenings
Kinnerton W.I.
The Kinnerton WI Craft Fair on 12th. Nov.
The WI are holding a craft fair on November
12th with the support of Tesco. We hope to
raise funds for bursaries for one or more of
our members. Why not come to see if there is
a Christmas gift you can purchase such
as a handbag, jewellery, knitted gifts, jams,
cakes etc. We would love to see you.

Higher Kinnerton Village Hall Management Committee
In accordance with the Village Hall Trust Deed, notice is hereby given of the
Village Hall AGM on Thursday 20th October 2016 at 7:30 in the Blue Room.
The AGM will be followed by the popular Annual Cheese and Wine Supper.
Any person over the age of 18 who lives within a two mile radius of the
Village Hall is invited to attend. The Village Hall is an integral part of the
Community and the Management Committee consists of residents living
within the two mile radius of the Village Hall. We are in need of younger members with 20/20 vision to
take the Hall into the next decade. Please give us your support and join us. Nominations for
appointment as Members of the Management Committee are invited and must be received by the
Secretary no later than Wednesday 12th October 2014. For more details and an information pack

Higher Kinnerton Bowls Club

Indoor bowls is a great social activity and if you are looking for something to
do in the village over the winter months why not give it a go. We meet every
Wednesday from 6.30pm to 9pm in the Village Hall ( Main Hall). We have

Afternoon Tea for Macmillan

The afternoon tea was a great success and £645 was raised on the day. Many thanks to everybody
that attended and for the generous donations of raffle prizes and cakes. Thanks also for the donations
and support from The Swan and Tesco who kindly contributed towards the refreshments. A special
thank you to the wonderful team who helped on the day keeping the tea flowing and plates filled.
Monies raised from the Fun Quiz on the 8th October will further swell the donations to Macmillan. All
money raised will help provide nurses and support cancer patients and their families.

Higher Kinnerton Cricket Club

Higher Kinnerton Cricket Club will be holding their AGM on Tuesday 11

October 2016 at 8pm in The Swan. Anyone interested in joining the club will
be made very welcome. Congratulations to Jason Spink, one of our younger
players, who has won a place at Cardiff University. For further information
