Your Monthly Higher Kinnerton Community Newsletter

Oh, come and join us.....

On December 15th between 6.00 – 8.00pm at the village hall we are holding our annual
Christmas carol event.
All members of the community, young and old, are invited to come along and get into the
Christmas spirit by joining in the singing of some favourite carols.
We will be entertained by Lucy Bassett on keyboard and Buckley Town Band will be leading the
carol singing. Once again there will be mince pies, mulled wine and soft drinks available for a
small donation of £2 per person. We will also be holding a 50/50 raffle and all funds raised on
the evening will be going to The Salvation Army homeless and hungry campaign.
This is a great way to start Christmas off early and we hope to see as many of you as we can.
Don’t forget to bring some form of torch so you can see the carol sheets as some of the singing takes place around the
Christmas tree outside. If you can make/donate some mince pies for the event, please contact Mike Allport on 660796.

Free (limited) tickets are available in advance from either the Village Shop or via Liz Corner, Clerk to Higher Kinnerton
Community Council (Tel: 01244 660277)

1st Kinnerton Scouts Group

Santa’s sleigh is coming on December 19th
Thanks to the Deeside Round Table Santa’s Sleigh will tour the village on December 19th, starting from the Scout
Headquarters at 6-00pm The Scout Group will be assisting Santa in collecting for the Round Table’s Charities. We aim
to cover as much of the village as possible. However, Father Christmas could do with more adult helpers, so if there
are any villagers who can lend a hand for a couple of hours to help bring the Christmas spirit to the children and
people of Higher Kinnerton, please ring 01244 660579 or email kinnertonscouts@gmail.com

Your help will raise money for local good causes. Let’s celebrate and let in the light and magic of Christmas. Any help
is more than welcome.

This month the Scouts have had a great time visiting the new fire station in Wrexham and finding out how the fire
fighters are trained and prepared for tackling fires. A session on fire safety was delivered and Scouts then were able
to carry out a basic fire safety check on their homes. They were very lucky to see a real shout in progress whilst on
their visit.

More recently you may have seen them around the village collecting donations on behalf of the poppy appeal and
parading at the Remembrance Service.

Scout and Cub sections are still open for new members so please get in touch via kinnertonscouts@gmail.com
