I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
a. identify the five levels of listening skills:
b. give their own meaning of the five types of listeners; and
c. show confidence in identifying the types of listeners.
ll. SUBJECT MATTER:
a. topic: Listening Skills
b. instructional Materials: manila paper, marker, scotch tape, and cartolina.
lll. PROCEDURE:
a. Preparatory Activities
1. Daily routine: Prayers, greetings, and checking of attendance
2. Motivation: Presentation of pictures with different scenarios

- The teacher will recall the background of the students about listening skills
namely, discriminative, comprehensive, therapeutic, critical and appreciative
listening skills.
c. Valuing:
The students will be able to identify if what kind of listener they and on how they
are going to apply the necessary skills in a specific situation.
lV. GENERALIZATION:
Listening is not just about on how you react on what you hear. According to studies,
there are five types of listening skills. Namely, discriminative, critical, comprehensive,
therapeutic, and appreciative listening skills. Discriminative is a listening type wherein the
focus is on sounds. Critical listening focuses on evaluating whether a message is logical
and reasonable. Comprehensive listening is to understand the message of a speaker.
Therapeutic listening is to provide emotional support for the speaker. Appreciative
listening is for pleasure and enjoyment.
V. EVALUATION:

IV. ASSIGNMENT:
Give at least 2 examples of each type of listening skills with pictures to be
presented in the class.
