Ofun-Iwori (Ofun Gando)

1. Ifa foresees Ire omo (children) for a woman, but Ifa advices her to make ebo so
that she could born all the children in one place, instead of having children for
different father. That will pose problem for her children when she dies.

Ebo: Rooster, Pigeon, Money

“Ofun lawo Igando

Iwori lawo Igando
Eeyan gando gando nib a won di saba ejo
Dia fun Alara-Megu
O fekun surahun Omo
O bi Ofun sile Onigando

Meaning:
“Ofun sage of Igando
Iwori sage of Igando
It is a worthless person that hunt snake around
Cast Ifa divination for Alara-Megu
When she has no child of her own
She was asked to make ebo
She complied
She bore Ofun for Onigando
She bore Iwori for Onigando”

Story:
Alara-Megu was childless, so she seeks Ifa the service of Ofun and Iwori,
who advices her to make ebo, but she need to becareful and tolerant so
that she may born all her childred to a man.
But she only made ebo to have children and jettison the other ebo. This
resulted to her born Ofun and Iwori to different men. So when she died,
she was buried in her father’s compound since she did not live with any
man till her death.

2. Ifa advices two persons to make ebo for their life, so that calamity may not befall
them.

Ebo: 2 He-goat
Sango: 2 Ram, 10 Orogbo
Aye: Porrage (ebe)

Won ni ki awon mejeji rubo si laiku ara won
Ipin aisebo

Igi sidi o wo lule
Eye o ni ‘bugbe mo.”

Meaning:
Ofun strikes
Iwori spits open
Cast Ifa divination for Tree
Made the same divination for Birds that rest on tree
They were asked to make ebo for their lives
They both declined to make ebo
When wind storm strike
The tree was uprooted
Bird has no abode to live”.

Story:
Tree and Bird were friend both depends on each other for survival. Both
further dreamt of impending calamity. They went for Ifa divination, they
were asked to make ebo and fee Sango and Iyami. They refused, so
when windstorm struck, it uprooted the tree and Bird has no place to rest
again.

3. Ifa foresees ire isegun (victory) for the person, Ifa adviced the person to make
ebo and feed his/her Ori and Sango. Ifa says some people talk ill of the person.

Ebo: 4 Akuko (rooster), 2 mirror, 4 ota (stone)

Sango: 1 Rooster, 200 ota and 2 Orogbo
Ori: 1 Rooster, 2 Obi and 4 Orogbo

Cast Ifa divination for Olukoso lalu Arabambi
One who uses 200 stone against His enemies
One who rains on His enemies
He was asked to make ebo – He complied
Who is that person that talks ill of the King
Nil I do not talk ill of you
What did Arira use to get victory over His enemies
200 stone is what Arira used against His enemies.

Story:
Sango was been surrounded by enemies. He always has persistent bad
dreams, so he went for Ifa divination. The sages told Hm to make ebo
and feed His Ori. Sango complied. He made ebo with 200 stones. It was
these stones that He uses to subdue His enemies.

4. Ifa says the person should not demand for any debt owed him/her now. And if
the person borrows anything now, the person should try to return it back to the
owner. Ifa foresees long live for the person.

Ebo: He-goat, 25 cowries

Iyami: Giant rat, porriage. To be serve separately

“Iyi Winniwinni labo adan

Dia fun Iya Alakara
Eyi ti yoo tori egbaadogbon pomo olomo je
Won ni ko rubo – ko rubo
Nitori egbaadogbon
O si pomo olomo je”.

Meaning:
“Bat feather resemble a velvet
Cast Ifa divination for Iya-Alakara (Beans Cake seller)
Who will kill someone’s child because of 25 cowries
She was asked to make ebo
She failed
Is it because of 25 cowries
You kill someone’s child”

Story:
 Someone bought an Akara (beans cake) that worth 25 cowries for the
seller. And refused to pay, so one day, when the child of the debtor was
passing, the bean’s cake seller grabbed him, beat him and the child died.
This made people around said the last two verse to her.

5. Ifa foresees wealth for the person, Ifa advices the person to make ebo and feed
Aje. If the person has chance, it is advisable for the have Aje shrine at home or
on Ifa. If the person has been initiated to Ifa.

Ebo: 2 Guinea Fowl (Etu), 4 white pigeon, 200 cowries

N.B. It is this cowries to be used not obi when making ebo.
Aje: 1 Pigeon, Ekuru, Honey (Oyin), 10 Banana, Obi, Oti and Orogbo.

Meaning:
Ofun Strikes

Apa uses to spread its seed throughout the bush
Grass leaves spread throughout the grass land
Cast Ifa divination for Sekere
When it was going to the house of Oloyo
It was asked to make ebo
It complied
Sekere do not cry from string anymore
You are the owner of string that tie Aje (cowries) together”

Story:
Sekere was going to the house of Oloyo to felicitate with him, but sekere
has no money to buy good dress to wear to the place. But it has to go,
sekere went to Oloyo’s house fully covered with cowries and people hailed
sekere as majesty.

6. Ifa advices the person to make ebo, against unforeseen disappointment. Ifa says
a big blessing is coming. The person should make ebo so that the blessing may
not miss the person.

Ebo: He-goat (Obuko), Money

 Esu: Rooster 1, Obi, Orogbo
Ifa: 4 Rat (Eku), 4 Fish (Eja), Hen

Dia fun Aberepete-eba-ona
O fojojumo kominu ire gbogbo
Won ni ko rubo – O rubo
Ifa ma je ki ire o gbon lo nile mi
Rekureku oko kii fa ko koja oju ona”

Meaning:
“Ofun the sage of Igando
Iwori the sage of Igando
Cast Ifa divination for Aberepete-eba-ona
Who always miss incoming blessings
He was asked to make ebo – He complied
Ifa may you not allow ire to pass over me
Rekureku, a land of leave, does not pass a road”

Story:
Baba Aberepete-eba-ona always bends down or shies, to show up
anything a blessing is coming to him. Yet, he was angry that the blessing
always misses him.
This made him to visit Awo who to him to be appearing or make himself
know to people to know that he is still excistity. He complied and misses
ire no more.

7. Ifa foresees honor for the person. Ifa advices the person to make ebo and feed
Obatala.

Ebo: 4 Roosters, 4 Guinea Hen, Money

Obatala: Guinea hen, 1 She-goat, 16 Efun, 16 Snails, Sheabutter, 10
metres white material.

“Ofun lawo Igando

Iwori lawo Igando
Dia fun Oke-kan, Oke-kan
Nijo ti o nraye apesin pitipiti
On ni ko rubo – o rubo
Orisa oke ba mi bu si”

Meaning:
“Ofun the sage of Igando
Iwori the sage of Igando
Cast Ifa divination for Oke-kan, Oke kan
 When it was coming to this world to enjoy large follower
It was adviced to make ebo – It complied
Deity that resides above, may you bless me more”.

Story:
Oke-kan (Mountain) was alone, it has nobody around it, to use it as a shed
or worship it. It was surprise that, afterall, it has made ebo before coming
to the world. But Esu appeared to it and re-assured it that it would soone
enjoy large followership. Soon, people come to Okan for festival and for
special prayer. And Oke was happy.

16. Ifa foresees ire, Ifa says this person must be initiated or marry Ifa, if a woman.
Ifa says the person is Ifa’s offspring. Ifa foresees breakthrough, multiple blessing
and general-well being for the person.

Ofun the sage of Igando

When He was crying for wants

Death (etc) do not kill Mapowa

Story:
Mapowa, the child of Orunmila was crying for wants. He seek the service
of Ofun and Iwori, both of them told him to go home and feed the Orisa of
his father, which he has neglected.
Mapowa did as he was directed and has a breakthrough in all his
endeavours.
