Greeting from Akshar School

Akshar opened its doors in 1998 with 70 students. It is an ‘Inclusive’ High School and we pride
ourselves in being pioneers in this field in the city of Kolkata. We have been able to create a
School where Children with “Additional Needs” study alongside with “Regular” children. The
School’s vision is to recognize and provide these children their Right to be included in the
Mainstream.

At Akshar we celebrate everything is an innovative and special way.

This year we are presenting an Art Exhibition- “ART-E-STIC” with a difference. The children of
junior school and their teachers are putting up an exhibition which showcases the ‘Art of Living’
through concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. All the materials used in this exhibition have
been Up-cycled into objects that are aesthetic.

Through this art show the students have truly demonstrated how to be the change they want
to see in the world.

It gives us great pleasure to invite you as our honored guest to our sustainable venture as the
American Consulate has extended enormous support and encouragement to schools on their
journey towards a sustainable future.
