DIGSI 4
The PC DIGSI 4 operating
program is the user interface
for the 7SD52 units. It is a
modern PC operator
interface that is usable with
Windowsâ versions 95/98/
NT4.0. DIGSI 4 is the tool
used for configuration, pro-
gramming and interface for
the 7SD52 and other
SIPROTEC 4 relays.
With the additional program
DIGRA 4 comprehensive
fault analysis is posible. The
DIGSI Remote program of-
fers a remote access via mo-
dem to the relay with it´s rear
service/modem interface.
Figure 12 DIGSI 4 – Main menu
DIGRA 4
Fault recordings, which are
stored in COMTRADE for-
mat, are displayed with a
powerful PC-tool DIGRA 4
(DIGSI-GRAFICS). This pro-
gram offers analysis func-
tions such as voltage and
current phasors, fourier anal-
ysis, rms analysis, time tag-
ging of control inputs and
contact outputs, element
pick ups and drop outs, com-
prehensive measure func-
tions and more.
DIGSI 4 matrix
The DIGSI 4 matrix provides
an overall view of the relay
configuration at a glance. For
example, all LEDs and the
configuration of the control
inputs and contact outputs
are displayed in a single
chart. One click of the mouse
allows the assignments to be
made.
Convenient protection
functions setting:
Secondary or Primary
The settings can be entered
and displayed as secondary
or primary values. Switching
between secondary and pri-
mary is accomplished by one
click on the corresponding
symbol in the tool bar inside
DIGSI 4.
Commissioning
Special attention has been
paid to commissioning. All
binary inputs and output con-
tacts can be displayed and
activated directly. This can
simplify the wiring check
significantly for the user.
Figure 15 RLC logic, example (CFC)
Furthermore all currents and
optionally voltages and there
phasors are available via
communication link at the lo-
cal relay and displayed in the
relay, with DIGSI 4 or a spe-
cial commissioning program
running in a standard
browser (Internet Explorer or
Netscape Navigator).

Ring or Chain topology
· In a ring topology one line
end can be logged out from
the differential topology for
service or maintenance rea-
sons by a signal into a
control input. Checks for the
breaker position and load
current are made before this
logout is initiated. In a chain
topology, the relays at the
end of the line can be logged
out from the differential to-
pology.
· For test purposes the whole
configuration can be brought
into a test mode. All func-
tions and indications are
available except the breakers
are not tripped.
The local relay can be tested
and no trip or intertrip reac-
tion is done by the other re-
lays.
