Scoring
Scoring is head-to-head and points-based.
Scoring in TEFB is done uniquely, in that most traditional stat categories
are not used, but are part of certain formulas.
There are 12 hitters categories (including one for fielding stats) and 8
pitching categories.
Here are the formulas and assigned points for each category used:

NOTE: Players will accumulate stats in all categories. This means, for
instance, a pitcher can accumulate points for any hitting categories if
he is at bat, or any fielding points he would receive. With this set up, a
position player may also get credit for any pitching he may do during
the season.

Player Drafts
The draft will begin on or around February 15th of each season.
Drafts will be 10 rounds long. (See the Contracts section for more
information on how drafts affect contracts.)
The draft order will be determined based on reverse overall standings
from the previous season. The order will be in a snake / serpentine
format.
The draft will take place as a Live Online Draft. Teams will have four
hours to make their selection after the previous team’s pick. The draft
clock pauses between Midnight ET and 8am ET each day.
Anyone in the player pool is eligible to be drafted.
Players may be drafted to the MIN slots if they are eligible as a minor
league player. Only three drafted players will be eligible for MIN
contracts each season. (See Roster Rules and Contracts sections for
information on this list)
Undrafted players will go to the waiver pool.
2020 Third Era Fantasy Baseball Rulebook 6
Contracts
Drafted players are assigned a four-year contract when drafted,
regardless of status.
Players are eligible for an extension only after the third year of their
contract, known as their “Option Year.”
A team may extend a player's contract only once* for a maximum of
three additional seasons during the player’s Option Year. Once the
deadline to extend contracts has passed, any contract not extended will
expire after the following season. See the Salaries section of the
rulebook for details on how extensions affect salary.
*NOTE: Once a player's contract has expired, that player will revert to
the default free agent and draft contract rules. Previous contracts will
not have any relevance, which means a player could technically be
drafted or signed as a free agent by the same team, but their previous
contract has no bearing.
Free agents are signed automatically to a contract that expires at the
conclusion of the following season. When a free agent is signed, his
contract will show as “3rd” on Fantrax (see below for more details).
Players signed via waiver wire will be signed using the same contract
length as the team that released him. For example, if a player is
released with two years remaining on his contract and he is signed via
waivers, his two-year contract and salary goes with him to the new
team. Any player who is unsigned via waivers will be placed in free
agency and follow the rules for that group.
Players traded will have their contracts and salaries move with them to
the new team.

If a player is eligible for the MIN list when drafted (see the Roster Rules
section above for eligibility), he is also eligible for a Minor League
Contract, or MLC. A player receives this designation for three seasons
when he is drafted. A player with an MLC is eligible for a refund on his
cap hit if he is released prior to the end of his MLC designation. The
expiration year of this designation is found under the MLC column on a
team’s Fantrax page.
Salaries
League minimum salary is $250,000.
Salaries for players in free agency are regenerated every 30 days during
the season and are based on a combination of player history and
performance during the current season. Players currently under
contract to a team during regeneration will not be affected.
Players released during the season will retain their previously-
contracted salary until regeneration occurs. If a player is signed prior to
regeneration, that player’s previous salary will be paid by the new
owners.
Salaries for players under contract will not change from season to
season, unless the player’s contract is extended.
For every additional season a player’s contract is extended, a flat $35K
will be added to the player’s salary. The net total will be his salary for
the duration of his contract.

Waivers
Waiver priority is based on reverse order of the standings at the time of
the signing. If more than one team puts in a claim for a player, the team
lowest in the standings will get that player. The order is checked and
reset at or around 3am ET each day.
Teams have unlimited number of waiver signing during the season.
A team that signs a player via waivers will be moved to the end of the
priority order.
Players released during the season will remain on waivers for 48 hours
from the time they are released.
A player’s current contract and salary remains for that player while on
the waiver wire.
Free Agency
Free agent signings are first come, first served, and no bidding is
required.
Players currently in the minor leagues may NOT be signed. These
players can only be drafted, or signed when they are called up to a MLB
team.
Teams are allowed no more than three free agent signings in a scoring
week, which begins on Monday and ends on Sunday.
Players signed as a free agent will receive a one-year contract, which
expires at the conclusion of the current season.
Free agency is open throughout the playoffs. However, players signed
during the TEFB playoffs do not get a contract extension and must be
released the conclusion of the playoffs.

Trading
All trades will be put through a two-day review period for the league. If
60% of teams not involved in the trade object, then the trade is sent to
the Commissioner for an appeal process for all involved teams. Teams
will have the option to appeal or change / cancel the trade. The
Commissioner will make the final decision on whether a trade is
allowed.
Although rare, the Commissioner at any time may veto a trade,
regardless of league voting. This can be done, for example, if a team
would be left with too few players on multiyear contracts, which would
leave a team dangerously shorthanded or unable to compete long-
term. This is done to protect any new GMs that may take over a team in
the future.
Draft picks for up to two future drafts can be traded.
Cap space / money may not be traded.
Trades involving more than two teams is permitted.
Players traded at any time will have their contracts and salaries
transferred with them.
The trade deadline is at 11pm ET on August 1st.

Playoffs
The top six teams at the conclusion of the TEFB season get automatic
bids into the playoffs.
Of the remaining teams in the league, the next four in the overall
standings will play in a four-way matchup to determine which two
teams will earn Wildcard entries.
Each round of the playoffs is then played in a series of knock-out style
matchup.
The Quarterfinals will include an eight-team matchup, the Semifinals
will be a four-team matchup, and the finals will be a two-team
matchup.
