Historic Ticknor Hill House was built in 1867 when Anoka was a bustling river town. This is a Queen Anne Victorian home
that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The home will be decorated for the holidays and available for us to look
around after we enjoy a delicious lunch which includes a chicken entrée, salad, dessert and beverage. Sign up on Adult
Board-space is limited. Time 12:00-2:00pm at Ticknor (optional Anoka shopping and browsing after lunch) COST: $20 plus
tip (payable at Ticknor)

Anoka County Genealogical Society. Cost is $7 members/$10 nonmembers. Please pay at Member

or a wonderful refresher class for those that are more advanced. February Theme: Library of Con-

MITTEN MAKING CLASS

Come learn how to make these beautiful mittens from wool sweaters. Cost: $10 to instructor
(pay at event) What is provided: precut wool mitten set, precut polar fleece liners, buttons,
instructions. What to bring: sewing machine, extension cord, thread, scissors. You MUST sign
up on the adult board to reserve your spot-space is limited. We have a few sewing machines
that will be available also.

WABASHA CAVES LUNCH & MILL CITY MOBS TOUR (PROHIBITION REMEMBERANCE 100 YEARS)
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16 9:15AM LOBBY/RETURN 3:30PM
Our adventure begins as we venture through the crime laden city of Minneapolis and explore the not so wholesome people of
this city’s past. A two-bit gangster hoodlum will show us how the Twin Towns transformed one of the largest areas of crime in
the county during the 1920’s and 1930’s.
Next comes lunch: (Greens w/Red Cabbage, Carrots, Grape Tomatoes & Parmesan Peppercorn Dressing. Homemade Meatloaf
with Gravy. Smashed Potatoes. German Blend Vegetables. White Chocolate Raspberry Cake.)
After lunch we will take a 45 minute cave tour where we will learn why these manmade caves were mined out in the 1800’s.
We’ll explore the original mined caves see the finished caves, once a popular nightclub called the Castle royal.

Cost: $59 members/ $64 non-members (does not include optional tip for step on guide and bus driver)
Includes bus tour (10:30am-12:30pm) lunch in cave (12:30-1:30pm), historic cave tour of the Wabasha Street caves (1:30
2:15pm) and deluxe motorcoach transportation. All trips are subject to cancelation, please check with Jodi prior to trip. No
Refunds-you are responsible for finding a replacement if you are unable to go.

ANOKA COUNTY HISTORICAL PRESENTATION

Did you ever keep a diary as a child? Did you ever sneak a peek into a diary kept my a sibling? How about the doodles on the
edge of notebook pages or on homework? Here is your opportunity to get a glimpse into the mind of a local artist who kept a
journal during the last decade of his life. This presentation will explore the words Jon Arfstrom left behind as well as showcase
the oil, acrylic, pen and ink, or pencil drawings that accompanied his thoughts. Come explore his methods of expression, then
experiment with telling your own story the same way!

From the basement to the barn, your beloved Church Basement Ladies are back and getting busy with life outside the kitchen.
After the last hot dish is served, the coffee pot is drained, and the JELL-O molds are put away, these steadfast women head to
their homesteads, peel off their good girdles, and get on with their daily chores. In between picking eggs and dusting
knickknacks, the Ladies congregate with some of the other characters who inhabit their community. YOU SMELL BARN
celebrates rural life in the 1950’s with plenty of crazy antics, loads of fresh laughs, and spanking new original songs! Lunch at
Dickeys BBQ (cost for lunch is not included in price) Cost: $42 members/$47 non-members (includes tickets, Mini coach
transportation, games on the bus). Cost of lunch at Dickeys BBQ is on your own.
