Centrioles are two short bundles of microtubules positioned at right angles to each other.

They are
located just outside the nucleus in a clear area of cytoplasm called the centrosome. The wall of each
centriole is made up of nine triplets of microtubules arranged at an angle. At times of cell division, they
migrate to opposite poles of the cell where they produce the spindle. This arrangement of microtubules
assists the movement of chromosomes.

CENTROSOME – An organelle near the nucleus in the cytoplasm of most organisms that controls the
organization of its microtubules.
