Kartika’s Diary
Last holiday, my friends and I went camping together for three days in Mount Bunder, part of
Mount Salak, West Java. We arrived on Saturday evening, when it had been raining for hours. It was
freezing. Neverthless, we put up a tent soon after we got there. It took us an hour to build the tent.
Hungry and exhausted, we then had dinner and went to bed right after.
The next morning, we were refreshed. We did some exercise with some music played on the
radio. My friend Randy got too excited that he slipped. We laughed so loudly. He felt down because
of the banana skin that he had thrown away at dinner. I already told him to throw the litter in the
garbage can, but he wouldn’t listen.
After breakfast, I took a bath. I was so ready to do many activities that day. My friends and I
shared our knowledge on how to survive in the woods. In the afternoon, we played some games and
outbound activities. The most exciting one was the “flying fox”. It was a little bit scary at first, but I
quite enjoyed it.
On the last day, we visited the Cigamea waterfall. The locals call it Curug Cigamea. It had
the most wonderful view. My friends and I took some pictures and played in the water. It was really
fun. My camping trip was the best trip I’ve ever had.

The Water Cycle

The water cycle is also known as the hydrological cycle. There is the same amount of water
on the Earth now as there was when the Earth began. The water cycle is how the Earth’s water
recycles itself.
The cycle includes precipitation, evaporation, condensation, and transpiration. Earth’s water
keeps changing from liquid water to vapour and then back again. This cycle happens because of the
sun’s heat and gravity. How does the water cycle work?
1. First of all, water molecules from lakes, rivers, streams, reservoirs, and the sea get heated up by
the sun and then turn into vapour that rises into the air.
2. Next, these water molecules form into clouds; this is because a process called condensation
3. When the air and the water cool, they form drops of water which then fall to the earth as rain. If
they are frezen, they become snow or sleet.
4. Once the water reaches the ground, it can flow across the land until it reaches rivers, lakes,
streams, or the sea.
It can also sink into the ground and flow because of gravity through gaps in rock, gravel and
sand. Because of this, it reaches these bodies of water too.
5. Now the cycle begins again, when water is evaporated once more.

41. What is the purpose of the text?

42. What is the hydrological cycle?
43. What makes the water cycle happen?
44. When does condensation occur? And what does rain happen?
45. How many processes are these in the water cycle?
