On January 11, 2019, at approximately 0100 hours, CID-Lake Charles received a request from the Lake
Charles Police Department (LCPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting at 1014 Martin Luther King
Drive in Calcasieu Parish. Upon arrival, LSP learned that a male subject entered the Raceway convenience
store and became involved in a verbal argument with the clerk. The suspect was later identified as Juston J.
Landry, B/M, DOBIEEEEE. During the argument, Landry presented a handgun and made threats towards
the clerk. Landry left the store and continued south on MLK Drive, on foot. A Lake Charles Police Officer
located Landry who presented a handgun and refused to comply with commands. A short foot pursuit ended
with an encounter that resulted in the suspect being shot multiple times. The suspect was transported to the
Lake Charles Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced as deceased. The Louisiana State Police is
