Proposed Amendments to the AFUB Constitution

The following amendments to AFUB Constitution are proposed:


1. Empowerment of Regions as provided for in Article VII;
? Regions have been reduced to five (5) as provided for under Article VII (a)
? Holding of Regional Assemblies as provided for under Article VII, (b)
? Regions to elect their own delegates to the General Assembly on a worked out
ratio that is equitable as provided for under Article VII (c), (d) and (e).
? Regional Officers and Women�s Chair are the ones to contest positions of
President and Vice President under Article V, Section 1 (a);

2. Leaner and more responsive AFUB with reduced cost of operation;

? Board of Officers reduced from 11 to 7 under Article V, Section 1,2 and 3;


? Scraping the positions of Secretary General and Immediate Past President with
a plan to improve record management and documentation which preserves institutional
memory under Article VI;
? Individual members of the Board of Officers to be recalled if they fail to
perform as expected or in the case of gross misconduct as provided for under
Article V, Section 4;
? Reduced delegates to the General Assembly under Article IV, Section 1.

3. Other grammatical and structural changes for have been made in this
Constitution in order maintain consistency and alignment to other Constitutions of
like-minded organizations such the World Blind Union. In addition, these editorial
changes conform to modern terminologies used worldwide.
