Yarn Notes
SIX BLANKET SIZES
Approximate sizes after blocking: This pattern is designed for use
Baby: 25” wide x 31” long with worsted weight yarn.
Small (Crib/Lap): 27.5” wide x 35” long Pattern may be used for slightly
Medium: 30.5” wide x 39” long lighter or heavier weight yarns.
Large: 33.5” wide x 43” long
XL: 36” wide x 47” long If you are using a different
weight yarn, you may need
XXL: 41.5” wide x 51” long

SUPPLIES
 Worsted Weight Yarn:
Baby: 550 - 570 yards
Small (Crib/Lap): 680 - 710 yards ABBREVIATIONS
Medium: 840 - 880 yards K knit
Large: 1000 - 1050 yards mkr marker
XL: 1200 - 1250 yards P purl
XXL: 1500 - 1600 yards st stitch
 US Size 8 circular knitting needles, 28” - 38” in length sts stitches
RS right side
(or size best suited for your yarn and knitting tension)
WS wrong side
 Tapestry needle
 Stitch markers - ring style (recommended)

GAUGE*
Stockinette stitch with US size 8 needles: 17 sts & 23 rows = 4”
*Gauge after blocking. Exact gauge is not essential.
Select needle size that gives the best appearance for your choice of yarn and your knitting tension.
A significantly different gauge may require more (or less) yarn.

DIRECTIONS
Directions for size Baby, with changes for sizes Small, Medium, Large, XL and XXL in parentheses.
With US size 8 circular needles cast on 107 sts for size Baby blanket.
(Small: 119 sts; Medium: 131 sts; Large: 143 sts; XL: 155 sts; XXL: 179 sts.)
Work back and forth on long circular needles to accommodate large number of stitches.
Work as follows for bottom border, middle section and top border.

BOTTOM BORDER & SET UP ROWS


Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * across row. End K1. (Same for all sizes.)
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 (WS): *K1, P1; repeat from * across row. End K1. (Same for all sizes.)

Rows 18, 20, 22, 24 (WS): *K1, P1; repeat from * total of 5 times (10 sts total), slip mkr, P87
(Small: P99; Medium: P111; Large: P123; XL: P135; XXL: P159), slip mkr, *P1, K1; repeat
from * total of 5 times (10 sts total).

MIDDLE SECTION
With right side of knitting facing work as follows:
Row 1 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * total of 5 times (10 sts total), slip mkr, K6 *P1, K1; repeat from
* until 17 stitches remain on needle; P1, K6, slip mkr, *P1, K1; repeat from * total of 5 times
(10 sts total).
Row 2 (WS): *K1, P1; repeat from * total of 5 times (10 sts total), slip mkr, P7, *K1, P1; repeat from
* until 18 stitches remain on needle; K1, P7, slip mkr, *P1, K1; repeat from * total of 5 times
(10 sts total).
Row 3 (RS): Same as Row 1.
Row 4 (WS): Same as Row 2.
Row 5 (RS): Same as Row 1.
Row 6 (WS): *K1, P1; repeat from * total of 5 times (10 sts total), slip mkr, P87 (Small: P99;
Medium: P111; Large: P123; XL: P135; XXL: P159), slip mkr, *P1, K1; repeat from * total of
5 times (10 sts total).
Row 7 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * total of 5 times (10 sts total), slip mkr, K87 (Small: K99;
Medium: K111; Large: K123; XL: K135; XXL: K159), slip mkr, *P1, K1; repeat from * total of
5 times (10 sts total).
Row 8 (WS): Same as Row 6.
Row 9 (RS): Same as Row 7.
Row 10 (WS): Same as Row 6.

MIDDLE SECTION (continued)
The middle section is made up of rows 1 - 12. Repeat rows 1 - 12 a total of 11 times for Baby blanket
or until work measures approximately 4.5” from desired length. (Small: repeat total of 13 times;
Medium: repeat total of 15 times; Large: repeat total of 17 times; XL: repeat total of 19 times;
XXL: repeat total of 21 times.)
See below for size modification tips.
Then...repeat rows 1 - 5 one time. (Same for all sizes.)
Proceed to Top Border directions below.

TOP BORDER
With wrong side of knitting facing work as follows:
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7 (WS): *K1, P1; repeat from * total of 5 times (10 sts total), slip mkr, P87 (Small: P99;
Medium: P111; Large: P123; XL: P135; XXL: P159), slip mkr, *P1, K1; repeat from * total of
5 times (10 sts total).

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * total of 5 times (10 sts total), slip mkr, K87 (Small: K99;
Medium: K111; Large: K123; XL: K135; XXL: K159), slip mkr, *P1, K1; repeat from * total of
5 times (10 sts total).
Rows 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23 (WS): *K1, P1; repeat from * across row. End K1. (Same all sizes.)
Rows 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 (RS): *K1, P1; repeat from * across row. End K1. (Same all sizes.)
Bind off loosely on 25th row maintaining seed stitch pattern (same as row 9). Same for all sizes.

FINISHING
Cut yarn leaving an 8” tail. With a tapestry needle, carefully weave in ends on wrong side of blanket.

SIZE MODIFICATIONS
For a longer blanket, add additional middle section pattern sequences (Rows 1 - 12).
Each additional pattern sequence will add approximately 2” to the length of the blanket.
Approximate yardage for each additional 12 row pattern sequence:

Baby: 38 - 40 yards
Small: 42 - 44 yards
Medium: 46 - 48 yards
Large: 50 - 53 yards
XL: 54 - 57 yards
XXL: 62 - 66 yards
