Pilipino Department although she was not here because she
suffered an illness Mam Nila Macopia of course mam Ester Belas
was designated being the head of this department. Senior and
Junior High school Teachers, Students good morning.
What’s the commotion? Hahaha a trade mark that most of my
friends identifies when we are together or when we are in a
commotion... Never the less we are identified according to what
we are? Most life is unidentifiable or measurable. We do not know
what will happen next. Just like the saying goes we have only one
life to leave and one death to die. If you have something to give?
Give it now for some day somehow you won’t pass that way again.
We teachers are said to be a molder, a molder in the sense that
students especially in elementary really believes the Teachers/ as
compare to their parents. That’s why it is our burden to teach the
young children correctly and responsibly. Teachers of course
should be equipped if not to be the best but at least to be good.

ENGAGING CHALLENGES THROUGH SPEECH, READING AND

WRITING IN A HEALTHY COMPATATION which is the theme for
this month English culminating activities is a challenge to every
teachers like us. Why? Because it is our responsibility to nurture
the youngster or the students should I say? The importance of
Speech as define in Merriam dictionary is the communication or
expression of thoughts in spoken words. That’s in English
communication!// that’s how speech is important// but what about
our vernacular words of course we also use it/. Speech is use in
communication for us to understand each other. There are different
elements that play a role in speech. The words someone uses, how
fast or slow they speak, tone of voice and the brevity of speech
affect how someone relays a message or idea. Non-verbal actions
also affect speech and these include eye contact, hand gestures,
facial expression and overall disposition. For example, someone not
making eye contact and standing rigid may appear shy or dishonest
while someone making eye contact and sitting in a relaxed fashion
may seem more open and honest. Of course reading and writing
will follow. I mean it is a prerequisite to some one who’s best in
speaking is a person who’s good in reading and writing. Let us
know why Reading Important.

Reading is fundamental to function in today's society. Filling out

applications becomes impossible without help. Reading road or
warning signs is difficult. Even following a map becomes a chore.
Reading is a vital skill in finding a good job, develops the mind,
discover new things, develops the imagination, and develops the
creative side of people. Reading is key in developing a good self-
image. Will Non-readers or poor readers often have low opinions
of themselves and their abilities. Good reading skills improve
spelling. Ideas written down have changed the destiny of men and
nations as well.
The power of written ideas communicated through reading is a
foundational reason why some governments oppose free and
honest communication. Illiterate people are easier to control and
manipulated. They cannot do their own research and
thinking. They must rely on what they are told.

It seems like a silly question, but it is very important to be able to

express yourself well. Our writings precedes us, or introduce
us. For example, when we apply for a job or to enroll in a school,
we need to submit a resume and sometimes a cover letter, or when
sending e-mails to someone we don’t actually know well or haven’t
met yet (work partners, customers, or even responding on behalf
of our principal or colleague. If we make a bad (or illegible)
impression, the outcome for us may not be favorable.

Poor writing may cost a lot; it may lead to misunderstanding and

misconstruing due to sentence structure, grammar, punctuation,
and spelling problems.

We need to write well for a reasons: To translate, communicate,

and materialize our ideas and thoughts into accessible documents
that are useful to ourselves and others, to report our work in
informative, concise, and professional formats, a reason is that
when writing, we are sending a message to our readers about who
we are. Therefore, we need to be clear, focused, and accurate so
as not to be misunderstood, underestimated, or ignored. Apart
from other people’s contribution it is stipulated or stated should I
say, there concerned is reading and writing that is being valuable
and it aids people communications and therefore an important
parts. And sometimes recording information are somewhat
overlooked. Writings enables a person put ideas into focus with
more thoughts and clarity. Because unlike speaking (unless reading
a speech like this), we are able to take our time when stating what
we want to communicate. We can be more selective in our choice
of words. We can consider the tone of the language we suppose to
use? Weather we want to use active or passive voice. We can
considered the moods we want to express… we can considered the
mood we want to express…

My dear students it does not mean that you guys are just an
average person or we have a regional accent does not mean that
we will no longer be good! In English… Yours truly is an agricultural
education graduate, a person who is not good in English… but I
tried and I tried to strive my weakness because in a real world we
guys will not be accepted in any job opportunities if we do not
know how to understand and answer the questions. I tried applying
in a call center hoping that I will be accepted at first but it was my
disappointment… but of course I never stop there! but instead out
of that failure is a challenge to pursue learning English as my
second language/ for me to get in with that business industry…
here comes yours truly is applying as a teacher… of course it’s not
essay to get in considering my qualification… at first the HR
Manager rejected my application. But I insist telling… mam I
understand that I am not an English major but would you mind
considering it for I was working in manila and yet travel to Samar
just to apply… of course she hesitate to accept it until such time
saying a you know what I will just accept it but I won’t give you
assurance that you will hired as English teacher. My replied was
will thank you mam…to make the story short here comes the
interview for English applicant everyone was called except ME!..
my name was not part of the master list........ My mind says hold
on// and think what’s best for you… and suddenly the ASDS
(assistant division superintendent) asked his audience the
applicant// who among you are not called… oh I raised my hand…
ASDS asked and why? Because I am not an English major... he
replied of course you won’t be part of here and maybe in our
major.… I stand and say yes sir/ I understand that that is not my
major but I have my 18 units in English and I was once working in
a call center for two years so… was it not an experienced and
guarantee that I could teach English? Then he says called the HR
and let me check the guidelines of hiring English teachers. Will
everyone is for a second or two! And suddenly say oh don’t cry and
your part of the English team… say!!! I was able to penetrate
English department and be part of the short listed applicant in
English!
You know sometimes life is unfair as if you need to exert 101%
effort, you need not to be the best// nor brilliant just to fulfill your
dreams// resources are there, internet, google, facebook, youtube
and everything// all you need is practice compete in a friendly
manner.

Words are the building blocks of life. You are, right now, the result
of words that you have heard or read and believed. What you
become in the future will depend on the words you believe about
yourself now. People, families, relationships, and even nations are
built from words. You need not to quarrel nor compete as you are
enemies. But instead did it by a healthy competition… Think about
