Launching and Opening Rite for the Year of the Youth

This Rite is recommended to be done on December 16, 2018, National Youth Day and Gaudete Sunday. This is
done after the POST-COMMUNION PRAYER.

It is suggested that the Parish Priest lead this Rite. Should there be an impediment, the Priest-in-charge of the
Parish Youth Ministry may lead the rite on his behalf.

Youth Leader/Officer: As we begin this nine-day vigil in Misa de Gallo, we

also welcome another year in our local Church as part of
our preparation in celebrating the five hundredth year of
Christianity in our country.

The year 2019 is dedicated for our youth. Thus, in this

day assigned as the National Youth Day by the Church in
the Philippines, our Holy Mother Church rejoices in the
presence of the young faithful. May this year be fruitful
for the faith-life.

Coordinator : Reverend Father/Monsignor, we are privileged and

happy for having you with us as we open the celebration
of the Year of the Youth in our parish. Together with our
colleagues in this ministry of the Church, we joyfully
welcome this season when all the young people of our
Christian Community may recognize and know the true
path towards Christ.

Parish Priest : My dear young people, in opening this special year, we,
your priests join you in this journey towards Christ, the
Way, the Truth, and the Life. In the guidance and mercy
of God, may we, your priests and the elder lay people, be
able to guide, help, and nurture you to become good
Christians in our community and in the universal
Church.

is eager to welcome this holy year, and with this, we ask
for your paternal blessing.

Parish Priest : As your father in this Parish, I share your joy in

celebrating this year dedicated to you. May this year help
you to deeply experience the love of God, and His
graciousness. May you find your rightful place in the
mission of the church. My dear children, always
remember that you are BELOVED, GIFTED, and
EMPOWERED. And so, we now joyfully declare the 2019
Year of the Youth in our parish open!

ALL : THANKS BE TO GOD!

An applause is rendered in joyful thanksgiving as the 2019 Year of the Youth Logo is revealed. Meanwhile, the
youth may animate the official 2019 YOTY Theme Song or make any gesture as a sign of rejoicing, such as
tolling of the bells for 1 minute or setting off fireworks.

***The Year of the Youth Logo may be placed in the sanctuary ONLY FOR THE LAUNCHING RITE
PURPOSES. After the Launching Rite/Mass the Logo must be moved to a prominent place, but not within the
sanctuary.***

PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF THE YOUTH

After the jubilation in opening the Year of the Youth, the Parish Priest, hands a lighted [Perdon/Candelaria]
Candle to the Youth Coordinator.

Parish Priest : In this year dedicated to your cause, may you bring the
light of Christ in the heart of every young and bring them
back in the loving embrace of the Church serving
joyfully, towards the fullness of communion of the
chosen people of God.
The Prayer for the Year of the Youth is then prayed while kneeling, led by the Youth Leader in-charge of
Worship/Liturgy.

God our Father,

we come together as Church, the Body of Christ,
and through Your Holy Spirit,

we pray for our young people

in this Year of the Youth.

In Your great mercy, You sent Jesus, Your Son,

Who grew up as a young man among the youth,
became an example for the youth,
and consecrated the youth to You.

Hear our young people

every time they proclaim:

We are BELOVED!
We praise You for Your love for us,
which saves and gives meaning to our lives.

We are GIFTED!
We rejoice over the many gifts You give us,
enriching us and our communities.

We are EMPOWERED!
We accept Your Spirit Who enables us
to share Your love and grace
especially to other youth.

During this Year of the Youth,

help the youth of our nation encounter Christ
who always looks at us with love
as He did with the rich young man,
the disciples on the road to Emmaus,
and those who seek Your Kingdom.
Form us by Your Holy Spirit
into credible guides for our young people,
like Mary Magdalene, witness and missionary
of the Resurrection,
to be IN MISSION:
joyfully proclaiming Christ
who died and rose again.

Nourish us and our young people

through Your Word and Eucharist,
so we may always choose to be life-giving,
especially to the least, lost, and last.

Together with our young people,

may we follow the example of our Mother Mary,
whose YES to You, O God,
gave way to the fulfillment of your Divine Will.

We make this prayer

through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
