1. GENERAL

This Document shall not be used as a basis for manufacture and supply of
original and replacement parts to AIRBUS INDUSTRIE unless specifically
required in a contract or purchase agreement .

1 .1 Scope

The specification defines the procedure for the cleaning copper and
copper alloys .

1 .2 Limitations of use

1 .3 Health and safety statement

This specification does not necessarily detail all the precautions


necessary to meet the requirements of health and safety .

It is the responsability of the user of this specification to consult


and establish appropriate health and safety precautions and the method
should be operated only by trained personnel .

2. EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS

2 .1 Equipment

2 .1 .1 Baths

The material of the tank shall be as described in Table 1 .

2 .2 Materials

- Sulphuric acid 66 ° Be .

Inspection

3 .2 Degreasing with solvent in vapour phase

Degreasing shall be performed to PMS 01-01-01 .

3 .3 Alkaline degreasing

Degreasing shall be performed to PMS 01-01-03 .

3 .4 Rinsing by immersion

After the alkaline degreasing the parts shall be immersed in water for a
minimum time of 2 minutes .

The quality of this water is Class B as defined in PMS 01-01-1&

3 .5 Acid pickling

Table 1 indicate the solution which may be used for acid pickling of
copper and copper alloys, maintaining the work conditions .

3 .6 Rinsing by immersion

After the acid pickling solution, the parts shall be immersed in water
for a minimum time of 2 minutes .

The quality of this water is Class B as defined in PMS 01-01-18 .

3 .7 Inspection

After rinsing the parts shall be inspected to check the water-break


free

3 .8 Drying

If the parts are not to receive further treatments immediately then they
shall be dried by dipping in hot water and standing in air or by heating
in a drying oven .

4. QUALITIY REQUIREMENTS

4 .1 Visual inspection

Check water break free after rinses .

Check that there are no products residues in holes and cavities .

Check that the surfaces of the metal is of even appearance and free
from scaling, contamination, etc .

4 .2 Process control

The process bath shall be kept in a clean condition, and within the
established chemical composition Limits with the periodicity established
by the Quality Assurance Authority, the required chemical analysis and
proper regenerations shall be made to obtain the established work
conditions .
