1 . GENERAL

This Document shall not be used as a basis for manufacture and supply of
original and replacement parts to AIRBUS INDUSTRIE unless specifically
required in a contract or purchase agreement .

1 .1 Subject

The specification defines the procedures including inspection for the

cleaning and pickling of steel to remove scale, rust and contamination .

The parts must be totally immersed into the baths to prevent local
etching .

1 .2 Limitations of use

Parts made of steel with TS > 980 MPa, that have been machined, ground,
cold worked carburized, or surface hardened shall be stress relieved per
PMS 01-03-15 before applying any of the cleaning methods described in
this specification .

Pickling of stainless steels shall be treated per PMS 01-01-08 .

1 .3 Health and safety statement

This specification does not necessarily detail all the precautions

necessarily to meet the requirements of health and safety .

It is the responsability of the user of this specification to consult

and establish appropriate health and safety precautions and the method
should be operated only by trained personnel .

2. EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS

2 .1 Equipment

2 .1 .1 Baths

The materials of the tanks shall be as described in Tables 2 and 3 .

2 .1 .2 Heating system

The tanks shall be equiped with heating coils and temperature controller .
