The aim of Islamic School Development in Globalization and Information Era

The honourable, the adjudicators of English speech contest, the teacher, brother
and sister, and all of the participants of English speech contest.
Praises and thankfulness always be to Allah SWT. Peace may always be upon our
adoration and shining epitome, namely Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Thanks for the chance that has been given to me. My name is Thomas Budi Utomo.
In this occasion, I will deliver my speech entitled ”The aim of Islamic School
Development in Globalization and Information Era”.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Islamic school has important role in educating the students. It has better concept
in character education and morality. It also keeps religious values that decrease in
this era. But it is not enough. To be the best education institution in this era,
Islamic school should follow the development. To minimalize Islamic school in
globalization and information era, it has to master two things; science and
technology.

The first is mastering science. Science is extremely important in everyday life

because there is not one aspect of daily living that science has not made easier,
faster or safer. Science results in technology that people rely on for health,
communication and transportation. Scientific knowledge helps people understand
the world from a cellular to a universal level.

Allah Said in Suroh An-Nahl 79.

٧٩:‫ اِن فِ ْي ذا ِلك َليت ِلق ْوم يُؤْ ِمنُ ْون (النحل‬،ُ‫س ُك ُهن اِالهللا‬
ِ ‫ ما يُ ْم‬،‫اء‬
ِ ‫ال ْم ير ْوا اِلى الطي ِْر ُمسخرات فِ ْي ج ِوالسم‬

It means:
Isn’t they pay attention to the birds flying in the sky by It’s wings? No one hold it
other God. Verily this is truly signs for person who believe the power of God.

Science makes everyday life easier than it ever has been. The most powerful
example is the importance of electricity. The scientific discovery of a method for
harnessing electric energy changed people's lives forever. Electric light benefits
people every day in inventions such as traffic lights, refrigerators and
communication devices. Science is the reason for the quick pace of modern life. A
journey that took weeks on foot was shortened to a few days' travel by the use of
locomotives and automobiles. Finally, travel by airplane allowed people to make
the same journey in just minutes.
Today science influences so many different things that trying to list them all would
mean this page could go on forever. Science has led us to finding out things that
give us what we have today. In fact without science we would not have electricity
which would mean no mobiles, internet and facebook. We would not have fridges
to keep food fresh, television to entertain or even cars to travel in.
Ladies and gentlemen,
The second is mastering technology. theorem fiqhiyah said:

‫ و ْاَل ْخذ ِبا ْلج ِد ْي ِد أَلصْل ُح‬,‫ا ْل ُمحافظةُ على ا ْلق ِد ْي ِم الصا ِلح‬
It means:
Maintaining the old thing is good. But taking something new is better.
Have you asked yourself why technology is so important today? Just look around
and you'll know why. Literally, at every instant of time, you are surrounded by
technology. Whether you are working or resting, you are always using technology.
It is used everywhere and all the time. Its use has made life easy. We need
technology. It's important. You ask why? Well then.
Places far away have come closer. The pace of life has increased. Communication
is rapid, travel is fast, movement is easy, action is quick, interaction has sped up
and so has life. Things that once took hours to complete, can be done in seconds
today. The world is smaller and life is fast.
Communicating Became Easier. Technology has changed the way people
communicate. Communication systems have evolved from pigeons carrying
messages to emails and instant messages that travel long distances in seconds.
Cellular technology and satellite communication have increased communication
speeds and made connecting easier. The Internet has enabled easy exchange of
information over long distances. Even now, you could be accessing this page from a
web server in some far-off country. Just a few clicks of your computer mouse can
take you anywhere on the Internet. You enter and all new world without even
realizing it.
For the real development of Islamic School right now is computer based for
National Examination. It means evey school should have enought computer for
their students. Those computers hepl the students mastering technology.
Finally, as Islamic student, we must mastering science and technology. We are new
generation for Indonesia and will be a leader for the future.
‫ ِرجا ُل ا ْلغ ِد‬. ‫شُبا ُن ا ْلي ْو ِم‬
We are a boy today but we will a leader next day.
Let’s conquered the world by science and technology and never stop for study. I
