Pip Williams is the founder and Executive Director of the United Kingdom & European Birth Mother Network - FASD, an affiliate of the NOFAS Circle of Hope. The network is an international program for birth mothers of children with FASD. She is the mother of two adult sons that live with FASD. She has lead countless FASD prevention and education programs over the years and has developed strong and lasting partnerships with organizations around the world.
She developed specialized FASD training, targeted towards a range of professionals and organizations including: social workers, midwives, children’s centers, and other health professions. She is a media consultant on the topic of FASD and alcohol use during pregnancy, providing expert advice to both broadcast and print media. Pip has provided keynote plenaries at FASD conferences in over 10 countries.
As a teacher and trainer, Pip Williams has trained over 3,000 people around the world. She has given facilitated intensive training workshops to various organizations across the United Kingdom on a variety of topics, including: strategies for supporting pregnant women in recovery, FASD and the criminal justice system, supporting adults and adolescents with FASD, screening women for alcohol use, and integrating FASD services into systems of care. She teaches courses in various learning centers across London and has created several accredited educational materials and individual learning plans.
Pip has also worked for addiction rehabilitation programs for women, providing therapeutic services, facilitating groups, organizing outreach events, and supporting women with substance use disorders, providing them with clinical interventions. She works as a Peer Research Trainer for several agencies, recruiting peer researchers for projects, delivering trainings, and facilitating focus groups and interviewing women with lived experience.
She co-founded the FASD UK Alliance, a coalition of groups and individuals from across the UK and currently serves on the board of the European FASD Alliance. Pip Williams is an incredibly effective communicator and has been able to influence and negotiate change within systems of care. She is a true Warrior Mom and has dedicated her life to preventing FASD by supporting women. Pip is a long-time friend to NOFAS and we are honored to enshrine Ms. Pip Williams in the Tom and Linda Daschle FASD Hall of Fame.
