communicating with others
3.3 Describe ways of actively listening Question 3 Page 7

1. Describe three different methods of communication. You should include two

verbal, two non-verbal and two written methods of communication. [3.1]

Verbal method of communication is the most used channel to transfer

information between two or more people.

Examples are discussions between two people where the information is

confidential only for those two persons and meetings to share information with a
larger amount of people or to do brainstorming.

2. Using two specific examples, explain how to choose the most appropriate method
of communication to meet your needs and the needs of others. [3.2]

The most appropriate method of communication to meet my needs and the

needs of others would be the verbal communication.

If I want to transmit or receive important or confidential information I would

have a private discussion with the appropriate person about the relevant information.

If I want to transmit a message or a notice to two or more people I would do it

in a stand off meeting where I will discuss all the appropriate information and where
we can also debate the information.

3. Describe at least two ways of actively listening. [3.3]

One way of actively listening that I found to be more efficient is to be in an

environment with no distractions like a conference room where I can receive all the
information without being distracted and being able to focus on the subjects. Also, I
feel more comfortable to ask questions about the information that I didn’t understand.

Another way of actively listening that I found to be good is to write down all
the information that I receive so I can do a recap at the end of the meeting, to make
sure that I didn’t misunderstood the information.

4.3 Explain the purpose of treating others with honesty and Question 3 Page 8
consideration

1. Explain the purpose of agreeing standards for your own work. Give at least two
reasons. [4.1]

The purpose of agreeing standards for my own work is to deliver the products
on time which means that all the employees have to do the jobs according to the
standards set by the company so there will not be delays in delivering the products.

2. Explain the purpose of taking on new challenges and being able to adapt to
change at work. [4.2]

Taking new challenges will be good for me because it will break my daily
routine and also new challenges means something new or interesting which in most
of the cases you learn something new, as new information or new and easily
methods of work.

Being able to adapt to change at work from my point of view is something that
everybody should do because everything is changing or evolving from legislations,
quality and technology.

As a good example is the changing of manual work in automatization which is

the future of the most of companies and where people have to adapt to work with the
machines according to certain instructions.

3. Explain the purpose of treating others with honesty and consideration. [4.3]

doing a job, an easier way for the most experienced workers and the hardest way for
the new employees which can struggle without the help of the experienced
colleagues.

An important aspect for honesty between two or more colleagues is the fact
that they should be able to tell each other when they are wrong or doing a job wrong
and to accept that they are corrected by the other ones and also to ask and give
help.

work and be accountable to others

Learning objective Place in Assessment

5.1 Explain the purpose of meeting work standards and Question 1 Page 10
deadlines when completing tasks

5.2 Identify ways of planning own work Question 2 Page 10

5.3 Compare ways of keeping other people informed about Question 3 Page 10
progress

1. Explain the purpose of meeting work standards and deadlines when completing
tasks in a business environment. [5.1]

Meeting work standards and deadlines when completing tasks in a business

environment is really important for the business to deliver products and services
expected by the customers in the best of quality and always on time.

The purpose of meeting works standards and deadlines is that every

employee should do their tasks in the required amount of time so that there will not
be delays in completing customer requirements.

2. Identify two different methods that you can use to plan your own work in a
business environment. [5.2]

3. Describe ways of keeping other people informed about progress and compare
their effectiveness. What are the benefits and drawbacks of each approach? [5.3]

One way informing people about progress is by e-mail and the advantage is
that the information is going only to the person or persons that should receive it
without being wrongly interpreted, but there is also the chance that the information
will not be received right away because not all the people are reading their e-mails or
they are not at their workstation.

Another way would be a stand off meeting where the information can be
passed to more people more efficiently and more explained, but is really hard to get
all the people to attend the meeting because is taking people’s time from their own
tasks. This should be usually done weekly or monthly.

Deal myself:

- Each product has to go thru test then packing. So, when I got the part
back from test I noticed that they were very dusty and as an action I blow
them with airline so I can pack them and not delay the process.

- On each packing case, I have to stick a unique serial code and some of

Ask others:

- Some product needs a more complicated rework than the other ones, for
example when a component is lifted on a thick board with 10 layers it’s
