ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to identify the Factors Affecting Non Compliance of Subject-Class
Requirements. The researchers conducted a survey study developing a questionnaire comprising of such
factors and administered it to these students of Maa National High School, Maa Davao City. Selected
grade 8 students of Maa National High School were the respondents and out 729 there are 40 data
collected. The data were analyzed and interpreted in terms of percentage. It was concluded that different
factors like electronic gadgets, being busy, forgetfulness, laziness, playing computer games, lack of time,
being tired, doing household-chores, doing something, doesn’t understand, don’t want to pass and being
uncomfortable affect noncompliance of Subject-Class Requirements. The researchers also
recommended suggestions for the removal of those factors.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Giving of assignments and projects has been practiced by teachers among the students;
however, observation shows that when a teacher gives assignments and projects, not all of the students
comply. According to Thompson JG (2017) Students have other interest such as videogames, television
and etc. that they claim are more important to them. This research was conducted to find out the Factors
Affecting Non Compliance of Subject-Class Requirements.
A wide problem of the students and the most common one. Sometimes, students were unable
to pass requirements which includes assignments and projects not knowing that this would take them to
more severe effects. This is to find out the reasons why some students were not able to submit
assignments and projects. The purpose of this research is for the school, the teachers and especially to
students for them to be aware of the factors and effects of this. The researchers conducted an interviewed
among the grade 8 students in Ma-a National High School who engage noncompliance of Subject-Class
Requirements.
From the result of this research, the researcher hopes to propose measures to effect change,
leading to the students’ noncompliance with their subject-class requirements.
1
STATEMENTS OF THE PROBLEM:
To find out what are the causes and factors affecting Non Compliance of Subject-Class Requirements.
3. What do you think will be the possible results of Non Compliance of Subject-Class
Requirements?
5. In your personal opinion, how to avoid from Non Compliance of Subject-Class Requirements?

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
According to Bullgatortail (2012) Most of these students don’t care about their grades or are perfectly
happy with the lowest possible passing grade however, Hammond LD (2006) states that a sizeable
number of students didn’t really know how to do homework but Woodford (2016) quote that teachers are
always trying to help their students. Sztabnik B (2014) states that with good time management, students
know how much time they have, how long it will take to get assignments done, and what they can’t
accomplish in the time they have and Babauta C (2010) added that the only way to really live productively
is to go out and start actually living! After you’ve read up on how to become more productive, put your
newly obtained knowledge to use but then according to Paul AM (2013) Studying or doing homework
while sitting in front of the T.V, using social media or texting, makes it more difficult to learn and retain
the information, increases the time it takes to complete homework, and may ultimately result in lower test
scores. However, Gaither C (2013) says that they worry that students are taking longer to complete their
assignments while absorbing less information that they would if they were focusing solely on schoolwork.
According to Ylvisaker M (2006) Students behaviors that are labeled Non-compliant are commonly
identified the greatest problem for the school staff and a significant problem for families as well and Olthof
CL (2012) added that what is the purpose of giving assignments? I give assignments along the way to
check up on the learning that I’m hoping is taking place. However, Kurtus R( 2012) states that the purpose
of homework is to help reinforce what was taught in class.Hill, CNJ (2013) also states that Social media
and electronics have created a world of digital distractions for students, making homework time a
nightmare for watchful parents and Sullivan B (2013) agrees to this he states that students, even when
on their best behavior, can’t concentrate on homework for more than two minutes without distracting
themselves by using social media, writing an email. According to Wallace K (2013) Some parents
complained that their kids’ homework is busier work than helpful work to improve academic performance
and Clifford M (2012) added that more homework doesn’t necessarily equate to higher achievements.
But then Zakhareuski A (2017) states that Homework should be a review or further practice of something
learned in class so insure that whatever homework you have assigned can be completed by students
independently and with ease and Spencer JT (2011) also states that if the goal is learning, homework
kills the desire to learn Morin A (2016) added that 40 percent of the parents surveyed felt that their child
was being asked to do busy work, not homework.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This research subject is essential to body of knowledge in understanding the causes and effect
of fraternity. In addition, this would be a great help to the following:
The School: To secure the students and make them be aware of the effects of Non Compliance
of Subject-Class Requirements.
Teachers: For them to be aware of the status of students about the Requirements given to them.
Researchers: The result of this study could be a basis of the future related researches.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Non-compliance – unable to pass and comply their requirements.
Electronic- produced by the use of electronic equipment. Such as smart phones which is used
by students and the reason why they can’t pass requirements.

Map
Respondents
The respondents were from Grade 8 students who have engaged Non Compliance of Subject
Class Requirements. There were 9 sections and out of 729 students there were 40 respondents.
Research Instrument
The study utilized a descriptive research design. Open ended questions were utilized facilitate
the response. Percentile classification is utilized to rank the responses.
6
Procedures:
First, the researchers asked permission from the Class Advisers of Grade 8. The researchers
distributed letters for the teachers of chosen grade level for the survey and ask permission from
the teachers and school head. Then set an appointment to the interviewee and conducted an interview
between the grade 8 students of Ma-a National High School. Next, collecting responses from the
answers of the students and summarizing the responses of the students. Lastly the researchers get the
percentage of the answers.
CHAPTER 3
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
Table 1
What do you think are the causes affecting Non Compliance of :
Subject-Class Assignments
Table 1 shows the causes affecting Non Compliance of Subject-Class Requirements in Ma-a
National High School. The results revealed that Using electronic gadgets ranks first which has 20% of
the respondents; Playing computer games and Laziness has the same ranks, which has 17.5% of the
respondents; The reason Forgetfulness ranks fourth which has 12% of the respondents; Lack of time
7
ranks fifth which has 10% of the respondents; Household chores has the sixth rank which has
5% of the respondents; Doing something, Do not understand the assignment, Don’t want to pass and Not
Comfortable reasons have the same ranking which has 2.5% of the respondent. This means that most
of the students who haven’t pass their Subject-Class Assignments are using electronic gadgets.
However, (2016 Zahra A.W) states that the only relevant factor is Laziness. Students know how points work
and try to gain a point-based system in their favor and they often chose not to make their assignments
and Hillary hill (2015) added that if you’re an educator, you’ve undoubtedly heard you fair share of
excuses from students who don’t have the assigned homework with them which can range from plausible
to hilariously absorb.
Table 2
What do you think are the causes affecting Non Compliance of :
Subject-Class Projects?
Table 2 shows the causes affecting Non Compliance of Subject-Class Projects in Ma-a National
High School. The results revealed that Busy has the first rank which has 22.5% of the respondents; No
budget has the second rank which has 15% of the respondents; Tired has the third rank which has 12.5%
of the respondents; Laziness and No time has the same ranks which has 10% of the respondents;
Facebook and Computer has the same ranks which has 7.5% of the respondents;
8
Don’t know how to do it, Forgetfulness, Always tasked, Not prioritizing projects and Don’t want
to pass has the same ranks which has 2.5% of the respondents. This means that most of the students
who haven’t pass their Subject-Class Project are busy.
Table 3
How do you feel when you did not pass your Subject-Class Requirements?
Table 3 shows the feelings of those students who commit Non Compliance of Subject-Class
Requirements in Ma-a National High School. The results revealed that Feeling Worried ranks first which
has 32.5% of the respondents; Scared has the second rank which has 15% of the respondents; The
feeling Sad and Nothing has the same ranks which has 10% of the respondents; Feel Stupid/Bad and
Hurt has the same ranks which has 7.5% of the respondents; Uncomfortable and Confused has the same
ranks which has 5% of the respondents; Bothered, Discouraged and Hopeless also has the same ranks
which has 2.5% of the respondents. This simply means that most of the students felt when they were
unable to pass their Subject-Class Requirement is worried.
9
Table 4
What do you think will be the possible result of Non Compliance of Subject-Class Requirements?
10
Table 5
Table 5 shows the possible solutions to comply student’s Subject-Class Requirements in Ma-a
National High School. The results revealed that Do your assignments and project has the first rank which
has 20% of the respondents; Pass you requirements, Ask the teacher about the requirements and Avoid
Laziness has the same ranks which has 10% of the respondents; Study hard, Do it early , Time
management and Listen to the teacher’s discussion has the same ranks which has 7.5% of the
respondents; Prioritize your requirements, Do your best to pass it and Avoid using computer has the
same ranks which has 5% of the respondents; Avoid using electronic gadgets and Nothing also has the
same ranks which has 2.5% of the respondents. This means that most of the students think that the
possible solutions to comply Subject-Class Requirements is to do your assignment and projects.
11
Table 6
Table 6 shows the opinions on how to avoid from Non Compliance of Subject-Class
Requirements in Ma-a National High School. The results revealed that Avoid electronic gadgets and
Avoid Computer has the same top rank which has 17.5% of the respondents; Avoid using Facebook has
the second rank which has 12% of the respondents; Do all you projects and assignments, Pass it on
deadline, Nothing, Listen to the discussion and Prioritize you studies has the same rank which has 7.5%
of the respondents; Avoid being talkative during the class and Avoid cutting classes has the same rank
which has 5% of the respondents; Don’t get tired and Be more responsible also has the same rank which
has 2.5% of the respondents. This means most of the students think that Avoiding electronic and
Computer is a way to avoid from Non Compliance of Subject-Class Requirements.
