Caparo has four divison they are:


 Aluminium Foundry
 Forging
 Metal system
 Tool Room

Aluminium Foundry:
The Aluminium Division Has Following
Departmants:

 PDC [PRESSURE DIE CASTING]


 HPDC [HIGH PRESSURE DIE CASTING]
 MACHINE SHOP
 GDC [GRAVITY DIE CASTING]
 PDI [PRE DELIVERY INSPECTION]
 GP12 [FINAL INSPECTION &Quality check]
Machine shop:
The machine shop has CNC lathe & VMC
machines. At Machine Shop the Product obtained from PDC and
GDC is machined properly

CNC machines are:


 Makino
 AMS[650,300,1200]
 BFW
 Trident

Lathe Machine process:


 Turning
 Facing
 Grooving

Vmc Process Are:


 Milling
 Drilling
 Tapping
 Chamfering

Leak testing process:


 Dry Leak Test
 Wet Leak test
Production Department:
 In Production department the machining
process starts with engraving.
 The machining is done through CNC & VMC
machines.
 When the job gets machined the product is
checked with the given respective gauges.
 Once the job gets finished ,multigauge is
tested and leak testing is checked.
 And the product gets passed to the Final
inspector.
 They inspect with the standard final
inspection procedure.

 The picture shows the machining of the job,
such as turning,facing, and grooving.
 In vmc some other process can be done such
as drilling,tapping,and chamfering.
 The VMC has four axis X axis,Y axis,z axis &
4th axis.
Drilling and tapping are two distinct actions.
Drilling refers to creating a smooth hole in a
material with a drill and motor.
Tapping is the action that creates a thread into the
side of the hole.
Tapping is done with a tool called a "Tap".
Turning is a lathe operation in which the cutting tool
removes metal from the outside diameter of a
workpiece.
Chamfering and deburring, two terms used in parts
fabrication, describe processes for finishing
machined parts.
Chamfering means to make a bevel, groove or
furrow.
Deburring is to remove any rough ridges, edges or
areas from a part after shaping.

LEAK TESTING PROCESS:


Leak testing is a process used to detect manufacturing defects
which helps verify the integrity of products and improve consumer
safety. ... A main component of many leak testing methods is the
concept of leak flow, which refers to the leakage of a gas or liquid
from the product.
QUALITY DEPARTMENT:

Quality control (QC) is a procedure or set of procedures


intended to ensure that a manufactured product or performed
service adheres to a defined set of quality criteria or meets the
requirements of the client or customer. QC is similar to, but not
identical with, quality assurance (QA).

The quality dept has following gauges

 Plug gauge
 Snap gauge
 Thread gauge
 Height Gauge
 Air Gauge
 Attribute Gauge

The CMM lab Checking Process

The X,Y,Z Co-ordinates

Roughness are

 RA [Average Roughness]

 Rz[difference b/w Tall & depth valley peak


roughness]

 Rmax [Maximum Roughness]


MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
The CNC & VMC machine need to be
maintained properly.
Everytime the operator Should check the
following procedures before starting the shift.
 Coolant level
 Air pressure level
 Lube oil Level
 Hydraulic Level
The Air pressure Should be maintained at
minimum level of 5 bar.
If the lube oil is at minimum level it should be
reported to the maintenance person.
