- Memahami kosa kata dan expression yang digunakan dalam

kegiatan jual beli dan tawar menawar

- Mengucapkan kosa kata dan expression jual beli dan tawar

menawar dengan intonasi dan lafal yang tepat

- Mengaplikasikan kosa kata dan expression dalam kegiatan jual

beli dan tawar menawar di kehidupan sehari-hari


SELLING AND BUYING

Untuk menanyakan harga suatu barang di supermarket, di pasar atau di toko, dapat menggunakan
pertanyaan-pertanyaan berikut :
1. What is the price of _____ ?
Contoh :
A :"What is the price of the television?"
(Berapa harga TV?)
B : "It is three million rupiah."
(Harganya tiga juta rupiah.)

2. How much is this_____ ?


Contoh :
A : "How much is this bag?"
(Berapa harga tas ini?")
B : "It is fifty thousand rupiah."
(Harganya lima puluh ribu rupiah.)
3. How much does ____ cost? (jika tunggal)
How much do these ____ cost? (jika jamak)
Contoh :
A : "How much does this book cost?"
(Berapa harga buku ini?)
B : "It costs ten dollars."
(Harganya sepuluh dollar.)

Conversation 1:

S: What can I do for you miss?


(Ada yang bisa saya bantu nona?)
B: I am looking for a dress.
(Saya mencari sebuah gaun.)

(Gaun panjang atau pendek?)

(Saya lebih suka gaun panjang.)

S: Here are the long dresses miss. May I know what kind of event that you will attend miss?

BARGAINING

Ungkapan (expression) dan pertanyaan lain yang digunakan dalam tawar menawar:

Menawar harga:

 Could you give me discount?


 Could you give me lower price?
 How about (price) Rp/ dollars?

Menolak tawaran:

 I am sorry, we don’t have any discount for this product.


 We are sorry, it is the fixed price.
 I am afraid that is out of the question.
 I am afraid that we can’t match that.
 I am afraid we can’t go that low.
 I don’t think that we could go that far.
Penjual:

 If you buy two, I will give you a 20% percent off. (Kalau beli dua, saya akan kasih
diskon 20%.
 It’s buy one, get one free. (Yang itu beli satu, gratis satu.)
 It’s the lowest I can do. (Ini harga terendah yang bisa saya kasih.)
 It’s the best I can do. (Ini tawaran terbaik yang bisa saya beri).
 It’s limited edition, so no discount, sorry. (Ini edisi khusus, jadi taka da diskon. Maaf.)
 Everything is 20% off. (Semuanya diskon 20%.)

Pembeli:

You : I like this polo shirt, how much does it cost? (Saya suka kaos polo yang ini,
berapakah harga nya?).
Shopkeeper : It is only 20 dollars (Harga nya hanya 20 dollar saja).
You : Okay, I will buy it. Please pack this for me (Oke, saya akan membelinya. Tolong
kemas barang ini untuk saya).
Shopkeeper : Sure. Would you pay it by cash or by debit card? (Tentu. Apakah anda ingin
membayarnya dengan uang tunai atau dengan kartu debit?
You : I want to pay by cash (Saya ingin membayar nya dengan uang tunai).
Shopkeeper : Alright, no problem. Here’s your bill (Baiklah, tidak masalah. Silahkan ini
tagihan anda).
You : Yeah, Thank you very much. (Ya, Terima kasih banyak).
Shopkeeper : You’re welcome. (Sama-sama).

Berikut ini adalah cara membaca harga dalam bahasa Inggris :


1. Rp. 50 : Fifty rupiah
2. Rp. 700 : Seven hundred rupiah
3. Rp. 2.000 : Two thousand rupiah
4. Rp. 7.500 : Seven thousand and five hundred rupiah
5. Rp. 60.000 : Sixty thousand rupiah
6. Rp.125.000 : One hundred and twenty five thousand rupiah
7. Rp. 5.000.000 : Five million rupiah
8. $50 : Fifty dollars
9. $27.13 : Twenty seven dollars and thirteen cents
10. $525 : Five hundred twenty-five dollars

Nama lain dari dollar adalah buck (s), yang hanya digunakan dalam informal situation. Contoh
kalimatnya:

 I just won fifty bucks in the lottery. Let’s go out for pizza! [Saya baru saja menang lima
puluh dolar dari lotere. Ayo kita pergi untuk membeli pizza!]
 Hey, you owe me five bucks for lunch! [Hey, Anda berhutang lima dolar kepadaku untuk
makan siang!]

Selain menyebutkan jumlah uang dalam dollar (buck) dan cents seperti contoh diatas, ada pula
nama lain untuk uang koin.

- 1 sen (One cent) : Penny


- 5 sen (five cents) : Nickel
- 10 sen (ten cents) : Dime
- 25 sen (twenty-five cents) : Quarter
