Love is the fundamental aspect of our daily life. Our activities are colored with love and love is the
blood of our relation with God‟s creatures. It is not easy to define what love is all about because love
concern many aspects; surely we can never describe what we exactly mean by love. In our daily lives we can
divide love into several categories.
We can differentiate between the love we have for our parents, our brothers and sisters, our best
friends, our lover and – of course – our love to the Creator. When a man and a woman make up their minds
to go through this life together, we know that they are in love. When a brother brings home a sweet doll for
his younger sister, we call that love. Even, when a mother is getting angry at her child, she does it because
she loves him. Love is one of the mysteries in our lives. In Love, we not only find passion, truth and belief,
but also hate and hurt as well.
Although love is indescribable, it is something that we can touch with our feeling and hearts.
Sometimes we say that we love someone but actually what we feel is only admiration. It is said that when we
want to get close to someone all the time and we are willing to do everything for that person without
anything in return, we love that person.
However, I personally believe that love is more than that. Even if the above definition is close
enough to the love we have for our lover, it is greater than any definition in this world.

Fungi used to be considered as a part of the plant kingdom, but they are now though to be quite
different.
The main part of the fungus is a mass of tiny thread called mycelium. Fungi live on the other organic
matter in the soil. Fungi are the most important agent in the breakdown of dead plant and animal material,
recycling it so that plants can use the nutrients. Fungi live in damp areas on in water because they have no
method of preventing their fragile threads drying out. They cannot survive dry atmospheres. There are
around 50,000 species of fungi and they include yeast, rusts, smuts, mildews, mould and mushrooms.
Perhaps the most extraordinary building of the nineteenth century was the Crystal Palace, which was
built in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition of 1851.
The Crystal Palace was different from all other buildings in the world, for it was made of iron and
glass. It was one of the biggest buildings for all the time and a lot of people from many countries came to see
it.
A great many goods were sent to the exhibition from various part of the world. There was a great
deal of machinery on display. The wonderful piece of machinery on show was Nasmyth‟s steam hammer.
Though in those days, traveling was not as easy as it is today, steam boats carried thousands of
visitors across the Channel from Europe. On arriving in England, they were taken to the Crystal Palace by
train. There were six million visitors in all, and the profits from the exhibition were used to build museums
and colleges.
Later, the Crystal Palace was moved to South London. It remained one of the most famous buildings
in the world until it was burnt down in 1936.

The plane was late and detectives were waiting at the airport all morning. They were expecting a
valuable parcel of diamonds from South Africa. A few hours earlier, someone had told the police that the
thieves would try to steal the diamonds. When the plane arrived, some of the detectives were waiting inside
the main building while others were waiting at the airfield. Two men took the parcel off the plane and
carried it into the Customs House. While two detectives were keeping guard at the door, two others opened
the parcel. To their surprise, the precious parcel was full of stones and sands!
Nowadays, the video game industry is developing rapidly. It becomes a multi-billion dollar industry.
Video games have become an important part not only in the children‟s life but also the adult‟s. Nevertheless,
there is an argument whether video games bring good or bad influences on children.
People who have a pro argument claim that video games give a lot of benefits. Playing video games
is a good way to kill children‟s boredom. It can refresh the children‟s mind after a tiring school day.
Moreover, they also argue that video games can trigger children to be more creative because the games
provide challenging ways to win. In other words, they believe that video games can actually sharpen a
human‟s brain.
Conversely, some people believe that video games make children lazy. They argue that playing video
games is addictive. As a consequence, most of the children prefer playing video games to studying. These
children find it hard to concentrate on their study because they want to play video games. In addition, most
of the video games often expose too much violence. Two years ago in USA, for example, a student shot his
teacher and some of his friends. Newspapers said that the boy was deeply influenced by the actions in the
video games he used to play with.
It is obvious that video games have more disadvantages than advantages. Therefore, parents should
be very careful in selecting the appropriate games for their children.

Television has certainly changed our lives. Today, most people prefer watching TV to going to the
cinema. Without it, nobody would have paid much attention to national or international – historical, political,
sport, etc – events. Even, television proved that pictures of suffering can move a nation to pity. Besides,
many things can be learnt from TV
Are there any advantages of TV? Many parents admitted that they found difficulties to stop their
children‟s bad habit, for example, they spend their leisure time for watching TV more than reading. Children
become very lazy and irresponsible for their tasks. This is of course denied by TV producers or people
whose works is related to TV.
They are very sure that there are a lot of benefits of TV for viewers, especially children or students. On
the other hand, they honestly admit that TV programs can endanger children‟s mental. They regret because
parents sometimes don‟t have much time to watch TV together with their children. They suggest parents to
have more discussion with their children on any programs they have seen.
