Great for sports tournaments, camps (basketball, volleyball, badminton, fencing) with minimum
spectator seating. Ideal for large open space for events such as career fairs. There are sound
panels to aid in the acoustics.

How to Rent
Call Reservations Office at (301) 314-9866 or personally go to office. Each reservation requires
full payment and a signed reservations agreement before the event is finalized.
Payment
Can be made by major credit cards, checks, money orders and campus KFS accounts. Cash is not
accepted. Checks can be made out to “University of Maryland.” Any checks or money orders
must be dropped off in person.
Catering Information
Alcohol is strictly prohibited anywhere on Memorial Chapel premises. Food and drink are
allowed in the Lounge and Conference Room only.

Main Chapel
White interior with burgundy accents. 4 sections of pews on ground level with balcony seating
on 3 sides. Equipped with a Moller Pipe Organ and Baldwin grand piano. There is an assortment
of altar pieces (brass and wood) to choose from, as well as a lectern, microphones, and numerous
tables.
Garden Chapel
A quaint location with red brick walls and rustic wood trusses. The large arched windows allow
views of the Garden of Reflection and Remembrance that surrounds the Garden Chapel on all
sides. 90 guests can be seated comfortably. Equipped with Disklavier grand piano with built-in
musical options. There is an assortment of altarpieces (brass and wood), lectern and several
tables. Space does not require a sound system.
Lounge
Cozy, informal space with chairs and sofas or stacking chairs for a maximum of 30 people. Great
for an informal meeting. Food and drink are allowed.
Conference Room
A formal meeting room. Equipped with a flat screen TV with laptop connection cables, wireless
internet, dry erase board, and easel paper. Formal atmosphere is great for departmental board or
committee meetings and reports or presentations.

How to Rent
Call Rentals Office at (301) 405-2941 or fill out Request Rental Space Form. Requests must be
submitted no less than 10 weeks in advance of the date requested.
Payment
Due upon execution of the Rental Contract is a 25% non-refundable deposit. Payments may be
made in the form of a credit card or check made out to the University of Maryland. The
remaining balance is due 30 days out from the event date. If the event is contracted at six weeks
prior to the event date, then the full payment will be due upon execution.

Kay Theatre
The Ina & Jack Kay Theatre is a classic proscenium theatre that combines the atmosphere of an
“Old Broadway” house with the amenities of a state-of-the-art performance venue. There is a
massive fly system, theatrical lighting, expansive wing space and an adjacent scene shop. The
theatre accommodates the complex sets of opera, dance and theatrical productions. The theatre
provides a warm setting for small music ensembles, ceremonies or lecture events. There is also a
specially designed noiseless ventilation system. Fresh air is constantly provided through a
gravity-fed ventilation system that keeps the ambient temperature comfortable, but without the
annoying sound of forced air. Concert attendees hear nothing but the music. Orchestra seating is
available for 355 guests (including boxes) and balcony seating for 271 guests (including boxes).
Wheelchair accessible seating is also available.
Kogod Theatre
The Robert & Arlene Kogod Theatre is a multi-purpose, flexible black box theatre. With its
theatrical lighting system and various theatre seating configurations, the Kogod Theatre is a
versatile space for performances, workshops and special events, including receptions and seated
dinners. Wheelchair accessible seating is also available for four spaces and four companion
chairs.

Must request EIT A/V assistance, microphone, phone, podium for Rotunda, video recording
services ($100/first hour, $50/each additional hour). Clark Hall doors are open from 6:30 am -
8:00 pm Mon-Fri. Events held outside these hours need to email building security at
bss@umpd.umd.edu. All reserved rooms must be cleaned after use, failure will result in a $100
charge (remove all debris - empty trashcans in dumpster between Kim Building and Potomac
Building, wipe tables and credenza with water, erase white boards, A/V equipment turned off.

Multipurpose Room
Located on the 2nd floor, provides a large meeting space with built in A/V. This space is great
for large group meetings and can be arranged in various configurations such as classroom, small
banquet, and round table discussions. The multipurpose room is also a great space for fitness-
based activities such as yoga and other group exercise style workouts. Space has 930 ft2 plus
storage, dedicated, secure storage for RecWell group fitness equipment, mirrored front wall,
sound system and dimmable lighting, wall mounted fans with single location controls, and
mondo (advance rubber flooring).
Fitness Studio
Located on the Ground Floor of Eppley. This large mirrored space is a great location for all types
of group fitness based rentals. Availability is limited due to the RecWell Group Fitness Class
that utilizes this space on a daily basis.
Student Boardroom
Located on the Ground Floor of Eppley. This small conference room is a perfect place for
meetings of less than 25. The space overlooks our indoor natatorium and comes equipped with
built in smart classroom technology for all of your AV needs.
Wet/Dry Classrooms
Located on the Basement Floor of Eppley these 2 identical classrooms open up to have direct
access to the Natatorium. With furniture that can be configured into various setups these
meetings rooms allow for dynamic classroom space for groups of 30 or less. The Wet/Dry
Classrooms also come equipped with built in in smart classroom technology.

How to Rent
Academic units/faculty can connect the department’s designated department scheduling officer,
who can submit an online room reservation request for any ESJ classroom. Administrative Units
may utilize the ESJ classrooms for meetings, trainings, and other events geared toward campus
users. If the unit does not have a scheduling officer, email esj@umd.edu or fill out this form to
make a request. All weekend events must utilize Conferences & Visitor Services to coordinate
the event. Weekend rates are higher due to the added logistical cost of opening the building on
the weekend.
Catering Information
ESJ does not have an exclusive catering agreement with any company or restaurant. Only UMD
Dining Services may serve alcohol in ESJ. The event organizer is solely responsible for
procuring safe and certified catering services. All set-up, service, and cleanup must be completed
within the event timeline. There are no tables in ESJ for catering set-up. Event organizer must
bring in all tables. Catering tables may only be set up in designated locations agreed upon by the
operations manager. Events with catering must pay a rental fee for use of the public space. Any
deliveries/loading/unloading can occur at the delivery entrance on the east side of the building,
facing Symon's Hall.

Weekend is charged for full day regardless of time span, half day is below 5 hours; weekend
rates require Conferences and Visitor Services to coordinate; rate not inclusive of AV ($25-45
