MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:

This Memorandum of Understanding executed and entered into by and between:

The WEST VISAYAS STATE UNIVERSITY, herein after referred to as WVSU with official address at
Luna Street, La Paz, Iloilo City represented herein by its President, DR. LUIS M. SOROLLA, JR.

And

The LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BAROTAC VIEJO, ILOILO, is hereby
referred to as LGU of the Municipality of Barotac Viejo with official address at Barotac, Iloilo,
represented by Hon. Mayor Neil C. Tupas III.

WITNESSETH:

WHEREAS, WVSU as an academic institution, engages in the Community to help the students
become better individuals and life-long learners.

WHEREAS, WVSU has been identified through the Bachelor of Music 3-A students of the College
of PESCAR is committed to conduct a Community Immersion as required by their course Field Study 3
(EDUC 213A) for six (6) days.

WHEREAS, WVSU through its students proposed to conduct community development programs.

WHEREAS, the LGU of BAROTAC VIEJO, at Municipality of Barotac Viejo, Iloilo particularly Brgy.
Sto. Tomas (Sitio of Karabangkalan ) under the leadership of Brgy. Capt. Louie Balico, has expressed their
need for cultural activities in music which may help their livelihood programs and students in terms of
concerts and school activities.

WHEREAS, the LGU of BAROTAC VIEJO, believes in the capabilities of the academic institution
particularly WVSU via BME 3- A students of the College of PESCAR in training the High School and
helping the community at Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.

NOW, THEREFORE, and in consideration of the above premises and their mutual covenants
hereinafter set forth, both parties have agreed on the following terms and conditions:

OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. The West Visayas State University, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music Education 3-A
Students of the College of PESCAR shall:
1. Prepare the Training Design, Opening Program and Closing Program,
2. Provide certificates for the participants,
3. Facilitate and conduct training,
4. Stay on their foster family’s home for six (6) days and four (5) nights,
5. Help their foster family in their daily living activities.
B. The Local Government Unit of Barotac Viejo, and the local community (Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Barotac
Viejo) through the support of the municipality of Barotac Viejo shall:
1. Organize and convene participants.

2. Provide transportation (Truck or of this sort) from “Crossing” to Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Sitio
Karabangkalan (Indigenous People Area) and vice versa.
3. Prepare the venue and the foster families of the students.
4. Prepare and coordinate plan of activities with partner agency (WVSU).

5. Provide seedlings for tree planting in a designated area (preferably at Sitio Karabangkalan).

6. Ensure the skills developed by the participants are out into practice and used properly.
7. Collaborated with WVSU in the monitoring and evaluation of implemented community
development programs and initiatives.
8. Provide local Police and Brgy. Tanods to secure the place of the students and participants in
any of the activities conducted in the duration of the students Community Immersion.

IN WITNESS THEREOF, the parties through their respective authorized officials has signed this
agreement this ____ day of ____ in the Municipality of Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
