A letter from your President:

Welcome to the Spring 2019 Dancin’ Gators Choreographers’ Showcase! For those of you that are new, we
are so excited to have you with us. For those of you that are not new, welcome back! We can’t wait to get started, but,
before we do, we have a few reminders and announcements.
Let me start by saying a few words about who we are for our new members. Dancin’ Gators is a non-audition
dance group completely run and choreographed by students. Our choreographers are all students who have been with us
for at least one semester and all have a broad range of style and background. Dancin’ Gators prides itself on our variety of
dance styles as well as dancers. Everyone is welcome, from dancers who have been dancing since they were two to those
who have decided to try dancing out for the first time. We hope that you find Dancin’ Gators as welcoming and as
exciting as we do.
Each semester, some of our members come up with amazing choreography and work with all of us each week up
until our big performance at the Phillip’s Center. Our choreographers are all very wonderful and open, and they help make
us who we are. Their jobs are very important and rewarding. Each choreographer is given a scheduled hour throughout the
week. This is the one hour that you will work on this dance each week. (The schedule is attached in the back of this
packet.) Another cool thing about our group is that you get to choose the schedule you want. If you want to dance one or
two hours every week you can, or, if you are really feeling ambitious, you can do eleven (although if you talk to those of
us who have done eleven, you may want to change your mind). Our choreographers have provided an idea of what level
their dance is for your benefit. We want you, as well as our choreographers, to be on a similar page; therefore, we have
attached the criteria their dance level is based off in this packet as well. Take a look at the suggested criteria to give
yourself an idea of which dances will be best suited for you.
There are $10 dues associated with Dancin’ Gators. This $10 will pay for our photographer and videographer on
show day. Since you pay these dues up front, after the show you will get access to all pictures and the show video for FREE!
The only other required costs for you are for your costumes. As president, I work with each choreographer to keep your best
interests in mind. No costume is allowed to be over $20 so keep this in mind when you are picking which dances you want to
be a part of. Also be aware that your choreographer has to have the approval from their dancers before they can order their
costumes. Usually, we have no problems with either of these because our choreographers are all awesome, but if you come
across a problem please do not hesitate to contact myself or any other member of the E-Board. We want you to enjoy every
minute of our performance, and we want you to feel comfortable in all of your costumes.
On top of our Phillips Center performance, which will be on April 27th, we have a lot of other
opportunities to dance that you should be hearing about tonight from our E-Board.
We hope that you are as excited as we are and we cannot wait to start dancing alongside all of you lovely
ladies and gents! Dancin’ Gators is all about having fun so let’s start tonight!
Amanda Rey, President

SPRING SHOWCASE

Every year we have the amazing opportunity to perform at the Phillip’s Center, something not
every dance group gets to do. This is a free show for our guests so make sure you invite friends
and family! We will have more information as the show gets closer regarding rehearsals as well
as show philanthropies.

MERCHANDISE

If you would like to purchase Dancin' Gators merchandise from the previous few semesters, please
see Sarah Rivaud after the showcase.

DG SOCIALS

Our Historian, Danielle Duncan, will be promoting several different socials throughout the semester. These
are always fun and a great opportunity to bond with our members so try to come out! Also, we have
noticed that many of us like to schedule things unofficially, and we love that! We have created a separate
page on Facebook just for this. If you’re going to a volleyball game and want to extend the offer for others
to join, do so on here. This is a great way for our members to extend the invite to any and all other
members! We would prefer that you do it on this specific page so as to cut down on the posts on our
official page which the E-Board likes to use for important notices.

POINTS SYSTEM

This year we will be continuing to implement a point system. Points will be given on a set basis to all
members to encourage their participation in events and socials as well as supporting our members at
outside performances. Keep in mind these points are not required and there will be no penalty for not
receiving any points; however, the more points you receive, the more fun you’ll have! Members of our E-
Board will be in charge of keeping track of each member’s points.
