Farm Clubs

Over the summer of 2018, Organic Alberta took a new direction and
hosted regional Farm Clubs! A Farm Club is an opportunity for
farmers to come together to discuss their challenges and collaborate
on solutions with the aim of improving farming practices through self-
directed learning.

What is it?

The Mackenzie County Organic Success Program supports agricultural and


agri-food entrepreneurs in the region to diversify into organic
production. The program is part of the Alberta government Community
and Regional Economic Support program, which promotes long-term
economic growth and prosperity in Alberta’s communities and regions.

Status of the Organization

FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

Thank you to our finance committee volunteers, Heather Kerschbaumer, Arnold


Van Os, and Jim Scheopp, who scrutinize our monthly financials, year end
financial statements, ensure appropriate policies and procedures are adhered to,
and make recommendations to the Board of Directors and Executive Director. We
sincerely appreciate their input and guidance.

FINANCIAL POSITION

We finished 2018 in a strong financial position with assets of $586,489, including


$307,668 cash on hand, $161,160 in GICs, $46,065 in reserve funds and $72,495 in
accounts receivable. 

At the end of 2018 we had $524,391 in current liabilities which includes $487,502
in grant/industry support funds that have been received but not yet spent, and
$46,711 in operating income that came in during 2018 but are for 2019 activities.
