4. It will be necessary for you to purchase ten (10) ParSCORE TEST FORM
Scantrons® (F-289-PAR-L) for testing purposes. They will be collected at the
beginning of the second class meeting; students’ grades will be withheld until
Scantrons® are turned in.

5. If you are a student with Special Services, it is your responsibility to register this class
with your counselor. Your exams will be taken in the Special Services Center and it is
your responsibility to make sure that it does not coincide with lecture time. They may be
taken prior to or at the same time class meets. Our classroom test times are 2:30-4:10pm.
Lecture starts at 4:15.
6. CELL PHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Absolutely NO cell phones or
electronic devices during class. If you are carrying one on your person or if you have one
in your purse or book bag, please, TURN IT OFF! Please let your instructor know if you
are experiencing an emergent situation. Computers may be used for note taking, however,
if you are watching YouTube, on FB, or other activity, you will be asked to leave class.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO:

BREAKS: You will be given one (30 minute) break at approximately 1600. On Exam
days this is not the case, and you are to leave the lecture hall immediately after
completing your exam and return at approximately 1615.

MEDICAL ADVICE: Please do not ask me for medical advice. This means via e-mail,
during my office hours or during class time. This places me in a non-professional, and
frankly, uncomfortable position. I am employed by OCC as a professor/program
director, not as a free health advice nurse. This is also related to the liability issues
related to my malpractice carrier. All health and psychological concerns should be
directed to your personal health practitioner. If you do not have one, please, contact the
OCC Student Health Center at 714-432-5808. Thanks for your understanding.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY/CHEATING: An incidence of cheating will be reported to

the Dean of Students with a recommendation for disciplinary action consistent with the
Academic Honesty Policy and the Student Code of Conduct. Examples of cheating are:
1. obtaining information from another student during an examination
2. communicating information to another student during an examination
3. knowingly allowing another student to copy one’s work
4. offering another person’s work as one’s own
5. taking an examination for another student or having someone take an exam for
oneself
6. sharing answers for a collaborative project and take-home unless specifically
authorized by the instructor
7. using unauthorized material during an examination
8. altering a graded examination or assignment and returning it for additional credit
9. having another person or company do research writing and/or writing of an
assigned paper or report
10. misreporting or altering the data in laboratory or research project
6
RECORDING INSTRUCTOR: The use of electronic audio or video recording devices
during class is a violation of the course syllabus, Coast Community College Student Code
of Conduct (Board Policy 5500), and the California Education Code section 78907. The
instructor does not permit the distribution of words or images in any form of film, video, or
electronic communication. Additionally, I understand that unauthorized recording or
distribution of classroom content is an unlawful intellectual property infringement.

TESTING SEATING

Due to the large lecture hall, your seat will be re-assigned with each exam and you can
return to your normal seat at lecture time. It is my hope that you will rise to the profession
for which you are studying and not cheat, however, being a realist, all cheating will be
reported. Likewise, please report any suspicious activity to myself or one of the TAs while
it is happening. You do not want this person taking care of you, your parents or child!
One final note-strong arming or intimidating another student to give you answers will not
be tolerated. Come on people-it’s super easy, just study and you will be awarded a
passing grade ‘nuf said

Stay on target and have a great semester!!
