1. Success of an Innovation

The Sinus HydroFixx is among the most innovative

systems in hot water distribution because its functioning
can be scientifically proven and due to many thousands
of flawlessly working systems throughout Europe.
Good things can be so simple.
The Sinus HydroFixx has been improved continually
over the years. While the Sinus HydroFixx was installed
in small plants of up to 50 kW years ago, nowadays
plants with an output of over 2 MW run perfectly via
a Sinus HydroFixx.
Optimum water distribution, flawless hydraulic decoupling,
an optional „Tichelmann“-type connection system
and heating circuits right next to one another in a
space-saving configuration are just a few features
that speak in favour of using a Sinus HydroFixx.
The Sinus HydroFixx is such a trailblazing design
that it was awarded the Innovation Prize of the State
of North Rhine Westphalia.

The essentail function of hydronic junctions in

heating systems is to ensure the hydraulic decoupling
between the boiler circuit and the consumer
circuit(s). In particular, if the volume flows of the
heat consumers and heat generator(s) are of different
sizes, hydronic junctions are the ideal solution in order
to eliminate hydraulic faulty switching operations.

In vertically built-in hydronic junctions, temperature

stratification emerges due to the temperature
difference and, as a result, a difference in density. Manifold

To operate the Sinus HydroFixx smoothly, it is

necessary to provide a requirement-specific
dimensioning of the base bodies and a proper
positioning of the inlet and outlet openings between
the junction and manifold.

As with vertical hydronic junctions, integrated junctions

are designed in a way that laminar flow conditions
prevail, i.e. the cross-sectional area of the junction
is a multiple of the feed pipe cross section. Observing
these criteria during the design phase ensures both
the smooth operation of the heating unit and the
flawless functioning of the hydraulic system.

5.2 Configuration

To provide optimum functionality, the Sinus HydroFixx ensure that predominantly laminar or steady flow

Flow and return may converge in the hydronic junction

without any interference of the circuits.

The charts below show the appropriate sizes for

particular water flow rates and heat capacities.

In the capacity range < 7m³/h, prefabricated

components are available which can be equipped
with all standard pump groups (see page 4, left figure).

In the capacity range > 7m³/h, the connector

arrangements of the heating circuits are made
according to local conditions and requirements
ensuring that the Sinus HydroFixx can be optimally
integrated in the boiler room as a space-saving
junction unit.
