3. Introduction

Project background, purpose and business drivers

From being the inventor of the Automobile to designing the Future of Mobilty,
Daimler is one the top employers in the world. Apart from the immense
prospects for working professionals, graduates, post-graduates Doctorates,

Daimler AG also offers fascinating opportunities to the Student and Pupil


fraternity. With Pupils reaching a critical mass in terms of positions across
various Daimler locations, ‘Azubis’ are considered to be an integral part of the
company. With new job openings every year, HR and business departments are
focused towards professional development and growth of Pupils. Among
several ongoing initiatives, there was an Ideation web challenge for Azubis to
promote the spirit of Intrapreneurship and give the opportunities to bring in
new and innovative ideas from their environment.
The winning Idea from this specific challenge has now received sponsorship
and the mandate to develop the idea and bring it to life in the real world. All
relevant and important stakeholders (eg. HR Marketing, Vocational Training
department and central strategy..) are on board and are keen to support the
implementation.

The Idea is termed as ‘360°View Now’ and aims to provide an virtual insight
into the Training Facilities to applicants who would apply for positions within
Daimler under the ‘Schüler’ / Pupil category. The overall purpose of the
project is to increase the attractiveness of the job description by giving visuals
of the work locations and the environment where pupils will work for the next
years.
By showcasing actual onsite visuals with online informative platforms, we aim
to make the job offerings more interesting and appealing for the applicants.
The project is mentored and sponsored by DigitalLife department at Daimler.

4. Project Scope

The solution should consist of an informative 360 degree tour of two


Ausbildung locations in Untertürkheim and Rastatt respectively. The content
should be able to integrate with the existing systems and interfaces of the
recruitment and applications portals of Daimler AG. HLD (high level design),
BRD (Business requirement document) and SRS (System Requirements
Specification) to be included in the scope of the project.
Extension of workpackage possible after successful implementation of solution
towards initial scope.

5. Project Timeline

Current goal is have a development setup by November 2018. Once the


development is complete the integration to existing systems is expected to
complete by end of 2018. Review meetings and intermediate milestones to be
planned in the project plan to monitor the progress. Any delay in timelines to
be discussed during the weekly review meetings.

6. Business Requirements

4 Low This is a low priority requirement, or a “nice to have” feature, if time and cost allow it.
5 Future This requirement is out of scope for this project, and has been included here for a
possible future release.

6.1 Functional Requirements

 360 degree View Now should offer virtual tour with many unique view
points throughout the tour

 The solution should be inclusive of site scanning along with the


development of virtual navigation and should seamlessly integrate both
aspects
 It should allow multiple viewpoints of the scanned location site
 Within these 360 virtual tours the users must be able to navigate the
premise of the scanned area using a keyboard and/or mouse
 If the user would like to see what is behind an opaque object (eg. Pillar),
it should be possible to navigate around the pillar and not restricted to
see only one rendered image
 The showcase should provide the ability to navigate intuitively via
several viewpoints: first person, birds eye (floor plan) and isometric
(“doll house” view)
 User should be able to select or click features via annotation or footnote
feature
 Level of Depth perception - The scans should have optimum depth and
supplemented with as many “clickable” access points that it can add
extra level of depth perception. The items and architecture of the
scanned location should be incorporated and give a more realistic feel
when navigated through
 Level of virtual experience via POIs to be based on stakeholder inputs
and could be of the following illustration:

 Each POI should be able to launch an informative video file which
explains certain attributes of the POI
 The content must be available on most mobile devices

6.2 Assumptions and Constraints

 It should be possible to integrate the virtual tour within the current


Careers page. The integration to be matched with the release cycle and
developer of the Careers page
 The content will be available externally via a redirector service from the
Careers page
 The entire look and feel of the content must compliant to Daimler
Design guidelines
 The concept has to be approved by relevant COM department and
business owner
