8) Here are dot plots of the sugar content (grams per serving) for some adult cereals

and child cereals. Compare the two distributions by comparing shapes, estimates
of center, and spreads. A possible question you might try to answer is: Which type
of cereal tends to contain more sugar per serving, adult or children’s cereal?

Analysis:

If we see in the adult distribution the center is placed approximately in 5 grams per
serving, in contrast to the child distribution where the center can be in 7 grams per serving.
Shape: Following with the idea the center of the adult distribution, the shape could be
defined like a distribution with left tailed. That means that distribution is skewed right, in
contrast to the child distribution that is skewed left.

Center: Respect to the mean, median and mode (center measures) could be estimate using
a visual approach. For example, in the adult distribution the center, we said it, is placed
approximately in 5 grams in contrast to the child distribution. But if we have to get a
specific value for mean and mean, is necessary to get how many cereals was measured. The
mean is the point of balance for the distribution. Respect to mode, in the adult distribution
the information more repeated is 3 grams per serving. In the child distribution the mode is
12 grams per serving.

Spread: Following with the reasoning for the spread approach, we can see both
distribution have a high standard deviation, then we can’t find some useful information
according to this criterion.

Conclusion: If we see the analysis for shape and the center criteria, the type of cereal tends
to content more sugar per serving is the children cereal, because the more amount of cereal
have more amount of sugar respect to the adult’s cereal. Furthermore, the majority of
children’s cereal have high content of sugar. That conclusion could be taken from the shape
of the distribution. Additionaly, in the real life, the majority of the products are designed
for the healthy persons, that is commonly the adult people.

Research Question: How does the protein content in child cereals compare to adult
cereals?

Note: There are 25 child cereals and 51 adult cereals represented in the dot plots. Protein is
measured in gram per serving.

about the data warrant it.
a. Thesis: Compared to adult cereal, child cereal tend to have (less, more or
about the same) amount of protein per serving.
