Once the contract is awarded, the resources and plans for information delivery

increasingly definitive information and geometric detail to various elements in
the 3D model.

3D coordination will also be considered, as it is particularly affected by LOD.

This is because those involved in this process must make allowances for the
tentative size and positioning of various construction components, until they
are understood to be definitive.

available specification, PAS-1992-3, which was developed in concert with PAS-
1992-2- in order to provide a framework of generic guidance on how the asset
information model should be developed from project information model.

This roadmap seeks to provide a coherent and comprehensive guidance on the practical implications on managing BIM in the organisation.

The strategy will draw upon official standards and other documentation produced by a host of industry experts and government advisory groups,
including the BIM Task Group. The advice provided will range from the early reminder that the BIM strategy should be aligned with client priorities to
assessing the practical implications of a phased BIM implementation.
This roadmap is not meant to be prescriptive. Instead, the approach will be to provide a range of important issues to consider and corollaries for the
organisation to apply.
It will be particularly important for the organisation to reflect on these issues and corollaries and to establish carefully a consensus on the pace and
extent of BIM adoption. This reflective self-paced approach will enable the organisation to achieve not only the immediate improvements in design and
coordination that are attributable to BIM, but also the long-term client benefits that are realised through comprehensive, spatially organised asset
data.
Although the prospect and aspirations of advanced BIM adoption may appear daunting to many, it represents the logical progression towards a built
environment economy in which completely digital transactions predominate.
It is this transition to a built environment digital economy that heralds an era in which order of magnitude improvements over conventional project
delivery and asset management processes will become commonplace.
