History, Goals, and Culture


Positioned at 225 Red Gate Road, St Charles Illinois, Horizons is a Travel
Agency That caters to most places you want to visit. We are a first year firm that offers a
wide variety of places to stay and visit our devout customers. We offer a wide variety of
product and packages. We strive to meet all of your apparel wants and needs. As a firm

we would like to establish a successful firm that becomes know and gets loyal
customers.We look forward to growing as a firm, and are excited to see what the future
holds!

Mission Statement
We strive to show our customers a side they have never seen before. A side that
is adventurous and bold. A side that helps you step outside of your comfort zone and
take risks. Our travel agency is the traveler’s first independent source of information for
finding the ideal hotel and excursion.

Purpose of Handbook
The purpose of this handbook is to establish policies, procedures, and working
conditions that will be followed by all Horizons employees as a condition of their
employment at our company. The policies and procedures outlined in this handbook will
be applied at the discretion of Horizons. Horizons reserves the right to deviate from the
policies, procedures, benefits, and working conditions described in this handbook.

Attendance Policy
Attendance is a key factor in your job performance at ​Horizons​. Punctuality and
regular attendance are expected of all employees. Excessive absences (whether
excused or unexcused), tardiness or leaving early is unacceptable. If you are absent for
any reason or plan to arrive late or leave early, you must notify your chief and the office
manager as far in advance as possible and no later than one hour before the start of
your scheduled work day. In the event of an emergency, you must notify your chief as
soon as possible.

Performance Review
Twice a year we give time to get review from your chiefs and CEO. It will take
place right around finals each semester.

Dress Code
At Horizons, all employees are expected to follow the same dress code as the
one at St. Charles North High School.

Internet policy
At this time, there is no access for everyone in the firm to use the desktop
computers, so it is essential that everyone brings their Chromebook charged, everyday.
At Horizons, the majority of what we do is on a computer, so you need to prepare as
such. No use of the internet should conflict with the primary purpose of Horizons, its
ethical responsibilities or with applicable laws and regulations. Each user is personally
responsible to ensure that these guidelines are followed. Serious repercussions,
including termination, may result if the guidelines are not followed. Employees should
not download personal email or Instant Messaging software to our computers.

Job Descriptions
Each position shall have a written job description. In general, the description will
include: the purpose of the position, areas of responsibilities, immediate supervisors,
qualifications required, salary range, and working conditions affecting the job. The
supervisor or the Executive Director shall have discretion to modify the job description
to meet the needs of Horizons.

Employee Duties and Responsibilities


In general, to obey a lawful, reasonable order within the terms of the contract of
the workplace, you must: serve faithfully, cooperate with the employer, perform duties
with proper care and diligence, account for all money or property received, compensate
the employer in appropriate cases, and not to misuse the confidential information
acquired while in service.

All Horizons employees are expected to work effectively and in a timely manner.
In the workplace, we expect everyone to work cooperatively with another and help each
other when needed.

Letter Formats and Standard office forms and procedures


If an employee is excused for a field trip or any other reason, they must email the
Chief Administration Officer (Justin Powell). If there is an excessive absence a meeting
will be held with the CAO, to determine your standing with the company.

Employee Benefits
We will have company parties every holiday. These parties will allow the
employees of Horizons to bond and spend time together, while not in a workplace
environment. In addition, the employees will get paid biweekly.our firm offers a 401k
plan as well as a W4 if at anytime an employee has trouble with either our firm can
provide assistance if needed. All employees will get all national holidays off.

Sexual Harassment Policy


Horizons is determined to present a safe environment for all employees, free
from harassment at work including sexual harassment. Employees are expected to
conduct themselves in a professional manner and to show respect for their co-workers.
Horizons​ dedication to a healthy workplace begins with recognizing and
acknowledging that sexual harassment is unlawful. Sexual harassment consists of
unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors or unwanted sexual attention
by anyone associated with the company, whether male or female. Behavior may still
constitute sexual harassment even if the harasser is a co-worker, a supervisor in
another area, or even a person not employed in the victim’s workplace. ​Horizons​ will not
tolerate harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, nationality, origin,
age, disability, marital status, veteran status or any other status protected by applicable
law.
Examples of sexual harassment include, but are not limited to:

● Displaying inappropriate sexual images or posters in the workplace
● Telling lewd jokes, or sharing sexual anecdotes
● Making inappropriate sexual gestures
● Making sexual comments about appearance, clothing, or body parts
● Inappropriate touching, including pinching, patting, rubbing, or
purposefully brushing up against another person
● Asking sexual questions, such as questions about someone's sexual
history or their sexual orientation
● Making offensive comments about someone's sexual orientation or gender
identity
Based on the seriousness of the offense, disciplinary action may include verbal
or written reprimand, suspension or termination of employment.

Discrimination Policy
Horizons believes that all employees are created equal and will not tolerate any
forms of unlawful discrimination. This company prohibits discrimination or harassment
based on race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status,
veteran status or any other status protected by applicable law. Each individual has the
right to work in a professional atmosphere that promotes equal employment
opportunities and is free from discriminatory practices, including harassment. Racial
Slurs and Discrimination will not be tolerated under any circumstances. All employees
are expected to cooperate fully with this policy. This company's employment activities
are to be conducted on a non-discriminatory basis. Issues of discriminatory treatment,
harassment, or intimidation on any of these bases should immediately be reported to
the Chief Administration Officer (Justin Powell) and, if substantiated, action will be
taken.

Diversity Policies

Horizons​ has a strong emphasis on diversity. Employees from all backgrounds
are welcomed. Racial slurs and discrimination will not be tolerated under any
circumstances. All employees will be treated fairly and equally with respect. Every
employee is entitled to a working environment which promotes dignity and respect to all.
No form of intimidation, bullying or harassment will be tolerated. Depending on the
severity of the offense, the disciplinary actions can vary. Multiple time offenders will be
given a written warning, with the possible involvement of higher level supervisors.
Horizons​ will try to be diversified as possible.

Company Etiquette
An employee's personal appearance and hygiene is a reflection of the company’s
character. Employees are expected to dress appropriately for their individual work
responsibilities and position. On normal office days, employees are welcome to dress
how they would normally dress for school. On specific days, employees will be expected
to dress business casual/business for events like trade shows. Conferences,etc.

Workplace Safety
Horizons​ will take all the precautions necessary to ensure that all employees of
the firm will have a safe and healthy working environment. We have rules in place to
ensure this safe working environment. All employees should ensure that all tasks are
conducted in a safe manner and make sure they have the responsibility to prevent
accidents in the workplace. Employees are prohibited from making threats against
anyone in the workplace or engaging in violent activities. Any questions or concerns
about the safety policy should be directed to the CAO, Justin Powell. Failure to follow
Horizons​ safety and health procedures or conduct that places the employee, volunteer,
client or agency property at risk may lead to employee disciplinary action. ​Horizons
safety procedures are the same as St. Charles North High School.
