SITE ANALYSIS
1 FEBRUARY 2019

Arch 202 - Prof. Simon Eisinger

SITE ANALYSIS

Site analysis looks at any and all aspects of the site which inform, influence, or enrich the design. These site factors may present
impediments or opportunities. A more thorough understanding of the site leads to a more appropriate response. Examples of site
conditions include
- topography
- vegetation
- access and circulation
- noise
- views
- solar and wind exposure
- history (human and geological)
- patterns of use, activity, and occupancy
- geometry (built and natural)
Site analysis may also include more subjective and personal reactions to the site, documenting your own experience, perspective,
impressions and memories.
What follows are examples of analytical diagrams, drawings, and collages, but this should not be seen as an exhaustive collection.
