“THE MACDONNELL” Emann Og Macdonnell, Nobilis, High Constable and Chief of the

Tyrone & Armagh MacDomhnaills (returned from Spain) who was Dean of Armagh,d.1601
(postulated for Archbishop of Armagh).

The two handed axe held high indicates the presence of the Clan MacDomnaill
Galloglaigh “Ard constapla coicidh Uladh”, ie, the High Constable of Ulster.

Na Rí”, the King’s Stone, of
numerous 16th century
descriptions was said to have
been blessed by St Patrick –
inset. It is the counterpart to the
Stone of Destiny. It was destroyed
by Lord Mountjoy and Chichester
in 1602 by axe…“brake downe
the chair wherein the Oneales
were wont to be created”.
