Background: Ibtikar Khana seeks neither to operate as an incubator, nor as a training center. It is not build to offer courses that merely build the capacities of start-ups and entrepreneurs. Instead, it aims to serve as a comprehensive platform that fosters, promotes, and encourages a culture of innovation and creativity in Egypt and prepares individuals at all levels to critically assess their ventures at their core, and effectively manage them to maximize impact and ensure sustainability. Amongst other thing, it focuses on ensuring that all social innovators pass through a necessary period of apprenticeship during which they will question the assumptions upon which their ventures are built. Ibtikar Khana is seeking an Events and Training Coordinator who will be responsible for supporting the Ibtikar Khana team in its objectives. She/he will directly lead the publicity and outreach efforts – both on the level of individual entrepreneurs and innovators, and on the level of larger organizations and partners. Collaborating with the Operations Manager, IT and Virtual Space Manager, and the Case Manager, she/he will be responsible for developing and curating the physical events taking place at the Ibtikar Khana physical space – creating “content”, sourcing experts and speakers, and promoting them widely amongst the Ibtikar Khana network. She/he will additionally be responsible for disseminating all information developed within Ibtikar Khana, particularly with regards to the outputs of the Think Tank – success stories, lessons learned, tips and insights, and policy recommendations. In addition, she/he will manage all logistical and technical activities related to the competitions and the trainings. This will include overseeing application- screening, all logistical matters, sourcing experts, coaches and mentors, liaising directly with participants, acting as the primary knowledge bank for technical information on the trainings and competitions and collaborating on the development of the various training modules. The project’s duration is 36 months starting from November 2018 and the premises is located in Maadi. Position Title: Training and Events Coordinator Reports to: Ibtikar Khana’s Managing Director/ Project Director Office Hour: 9 am to 5 pm, unless assigned to stay later to fulfill work requirements. Working Days: Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday off, however during the trainings and the events, the candidate will stay as required. Also, the candidate will travel inside and outside Egypt when necessary. Tasks and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Project Director, directly lead the publicity and outreach efforts – both on the level of individual entrepreneurs and innovators, and on the level of larger organizations and partners. Manage all logistical and technical activities related to the competitions and the trainings. Oversee application-screening and all logistical matters. Source experts, coaches, mentors and co-working spaces and liaising directly with participants. Act as the primary knowledge bank for technical information on the trainings and competitions and collaborating on the development of the various training modules Draft the needed proposals and reports to current and potential donors to ensure the project’s sustainability under the supervision of the Managing Director. Create a baseline for the participants and manage the evaluation of the trainings and the curriculum. Create a plan for all the project’s events. Manage and develop training partnerships. Write monthly reports about the project’s activities and achievements to the Project Director.
Skills and Requirements:
I. Education B.A. in a relevant field, preferably Social Sciences, Humanitarians or Managerial Sciences. II. Experience 10 years of experience in social development and project management and preferably in dealing with multiple donors. Previous experience in working with NGOs and donors is a must. Solid experience in dealing with governmental entities. Excellent writing and analytical skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel. III. Language Fluency in written and spoken English Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic. IV. Personal Traits Must be creative within his/her scope of work and very resourceful in problem solving. Must have strong initiative, independence, creativity, and sound judgment. Must be a deeply trustworthy person. Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple high-priority tasks at once. Must be a team player with a high level of commitment Must maintain cooperative working relationships and interact with others in a helpful and friendly manner.
