U-Well: A University Wellness Program for Staff

program

Program Theory:

If university staff and instructors attend health and wellness information sessions, they will increase awareness of health
information. If the participants have increased health knowledge, they will practice and achieve healthy work-life balance.
If enough university staff and instructors live a healthy life style, the program will establish a supportive health-minded
community of employees.

Please provide any additional comments or your thinking about U-Well program.
The U-well program is designed to support increased wellness of staff and to address the increased staff sickness leave. I
wonder if the program has explored all the employees’ needs, all relevant problems and their underlying causes. It is not clear
that how the activities are determined to be most meaningful toward the program outcomes.

Given the existing situation with increased staff sick day leave and staff challenges in work-life balance, the attendance of
information sessions will make the staff busy life busier. Program information sessions are scheduled outside work hours. I am
interested to know how the program is made attractive to staff. I also wonder how the U-well team track the program
effectiveness.
