Motivation and Job Satisfaction

1. Motivation is everything that can push people to do her / his job.


Motivation to work: The degree to which members of an organization are willing to
fulfill their role or to do their job.

2. Kind of Motivation:
Intrinsic, Extrinsic, Recessive

Driving state
Instrumental Behaviour
Goal

4. Motivation Theory
1. Maslow Theory
It is probably safe to say that the most well-known theory of motivation is Maslow’s
need hierarchy theory Maslow’s theory is based on the human needs. Drawing chiefly
on his clinical experience, he classified all human needs into a hierarchical manner
from the lower to the higher order.
2. Herzberg Theory
a. People generally tend to take credit themselves when things go well. They blame
failure on the external environment.
b. The theory basically explains job satisfaction, not motivation.
c. Even job satisfaction is not measured on an overall basis. It is not unlikely that a
person may dislike part of his/ her job, still thinks the job acceptable.
d. This theory neglects situational variable to motivate an individual.
3. McClelland Theory
a. High-need achievers have a strong desire to assume personal responsibility for
performing a task for finding a solution to a problem.
b. High-need achievers tend to set moderately difficult goals and take calculated risks.
c. High-need achievers have a strong desire for performance feedback.

5. Job Satisfaction: A pleasurable emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one's job or
job experiences. Job Satisfaction which are:
a. Workers themselves (Work It Self) every job requires a certain skill in accordance with
their respective field.
b. Superiors (supervisors) who are good bosses mean they want to respect the work of
their subordinates.
c. Workers factor that connects employees with employees or employees with their
superiors, both the same or different jobs.
d. Promotion (Promotion) factor that relates to the presence or absence of an opportunity
to get an increase in career during work.
e. Salary / salary (Pay) factor fulfilling the life needs of employees who are deemed
appropriate or not.
