5.3 Hoisting Mechanism

The hoisting mechanism consists of hydraulic motor, winch reducer, brake, rope guider,
lowering limiter, hoisting limiter, wire rope and hook and so on. The hoisting mechanism is
divided into two parts: main hoisting mechanism and auxiliary hoisting mechanism. The
reducers of main and auxiliary winches are totally the same so that they can be interchanged.
The joysticks of main and auxiliary hoisting mechanisms are set in the operator’s cab. The
joystick of main hoisting mechanism is on the right of the seat (namely right joystick); the
joystick of auxiliary hoisting mechanism is on the left of the seat (namely left joystick)
Please read Rated Lifting Capacity Table and Lifting Height Curve carefully before lifting
operation.

5.3.1.1 Rated Lifting Capacity Table
Find out the appropriate boom length firstly according to the lifting height and working radius
in the lifting height curve diagram and then find out the rated total lifting capacity in the table.
But when the jib which is fixed on the top of the boom works, we should find out the rated
total lifting capacity according to boom angle.

For instance:When the crane works in 360° scope with the outriggers fully extended
and without the movable counterweight, we should first find out the corresponding lifting
capacity table and then find out the rated total lifting capacity in the following method.

When the working radius

is R and the boom length
is L2 or L3, what the
rated total lifting capacity
should be ?

The rated total lifting capacity:

Boom length L2m=W2kg
Boom length L3m=W3kg

CAUTION:
a. Look up the corresponding rated total lifting capacity according to actual
working conditions.
b. Do obey the notice shown below the rated lifting capacity table.

Balanced valve fitted in the hoisting mechanism can not only make hoisting up/down steadily
but also can stop the load at any position. When the boom works, wire rope may be not long
enough with the telescoping out of boom and the increase of the lifting height. Such problem
can be solved by changing the wire rope falls, which is carried out with a limiter weight fitted.

5.3.2 Main Hoisting Mechanism

Take hold of the left and the right joysticks and press the safety switches at the back of
joysticks.

Operation of the main hoisting mechanism

When lifting the hook, press free swing button and pull backward the right joystick slowly to
lift the hook at the same time. When lift the hook with load, the boom will slide to the vertical
top of the load’s centre of gravity automatically and release the free swing button once the
load is away from the ground. Continually pull backward the right joystick to lift the load

The joysticks should return to neutral position slowly. After that, stop the operation of
hoisting mechanism immediately.
The main and auxiliary hoisting speeds can be adjusted by the accelerator pedal and the
joysticks. Depress the accelerator pedal and increase the inclination angle of the joysticks, the
hoisting mechanism will speed up. But it is prohibited to change the speed suddenly during
lifting so as to ensure steady operation.
When the wire rope for main winch or auxiliary winch is over-winding, over–lowering or
overloading, the system will give acoustooptic alarm and stop the movements towards
dangerous direction (namely, when the rope is over-winding or overloading, “spool up
winch”,” telescope out telescopic boom” and “lower telescopic boom” are switched off; while
the wire rope is over–lowering, “reel off main winch” is switched off..) At this time, the crane
can only be operated movements towards safety directions, if a movement towards dangerous
direction is needed during commissioning or maintenance, the operator can press the repair
switch on the dash board. Such operation should be carried out carefully.

WARNING: It is forbidden to use the repair switch in normal situation.

CAUTION:
a. Choose the appropriate rope falls according to the boom length. Lay down the
load when the hook rotates due to the twisted wire rope. Don’t lift until the wire
rope is fully released.
b. Under any conditions, wire rope on the hoisting drum is not allowed to be less
than 3 turns.
c. Lift the load uprightly. Dragging the load that still contacts with the ground is
not permitted. Avoid oblique dragging or pulling load.
d. When lifting, suspend the load away from the ground for a while. Continue to
lift after assure that there’s no potential danger. It is prohibited to lift the load by
raising the boom when the load is still on the ground.
e. Do not pull backward and then push forward the joysticks abruptly and vice
versa. Should first return the joystick to neutral position during changing, and
continue to operate once the drum stops rotating. Otherwise, it will cause damage

to components.
f. The load handling device must be strong enough. The lifting load includes the
weight of hook and the load handling device etc.
g. Standing on the main and auxiliary winches is forbidden.
5.3.4 Changing Wire Rope’s Falls
Working conditions: the outriggers have been set up already, and the boom has been
telescoped in and turned to the side or rear working area.

1) Lower the boom and place the hook on the ground.

2)Remove the pin spindle for guiding wire.

3)Remove the limit weight from wire rope.

4)Remove the bail.

When the rope falls is even number

Explanation: When the rope falls is odd number, the bail is mounted on hook.
5)Change the wire rope’s falls.

Lower the hook while pulling

out the wire rope with hand.

Explanation:
a. The mounting position of hosting limiter weight changes in accordance with rope falls.
