Pythagoras was a philosopher, mystic, and mathematician who was born around 570 BCE
in Samos, Ionia, in what is now Greece. He and his family emigrated from Ionia to southern Italy
in about 532 BCE, establishing a secret society in Croton, where he and his disciples explored
the salvation of the human soul through mathematical principles.

The Pythagorean Theorem was used in ancient Babylon and China, the credit for proving
the theorem has been given to Pythagoras and his followers. It states that the square of the
hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of its other two sides, or a^2 +
b^2 = c^2. That theorem is not only the basis for trigonometry but also a way to connect
geometry and algebra.

This theorem becomes increasingly important during the high school years. It is not
enough to merely state the algebraic formula for the Pythagorean Theorem. It will help students
to see the geometric connections as well. The teaching and learning of the Pythagorean Theorem
can be enriched and enhanced through the use of dot paper, geoboards, paper folding, and
computer technology, as well as many other instructional materials. Through the use of
manipulatives and other educational resources, the Pythagorean Theorem can mean much more
to students than just and plugging numbers into the formula.

Rizal is considered by many to be the national hero of the Phillipines. He was a doctor,a writer,
and an intellectual who traveled abroad and to the provinces declaring that the Filipino people were
capable of self government and didn't need to be ruled by Spain or any other foreign power. And history
proves he was correct. He was an influential individual on Filipino independence, and education, as well
as a bolster to Filipino self image and mindset. He could be considered responsible for instilling Filipino
pride of being a unique,independent, people who place great value on education and the national pride
of being a great people who have been existing in a hard country for many centuries.

which it depicts the country’s issues and how the protagonist attempts a reform. The story takes place
13 years after Noli Me Tángere, where revolutionary protagonist Crisostomo Ibarra is now under the
guise of Simoun – a wealthy jewelry tycoon.

At the time, the Spaniards prohibited the Filipinos from reading the controversial book because
of the unlawful acts depicted in the novel (Noli Me Tángere). Yet they were not able to ban it completely
and as more Filipinos read the book, it opened their eyes to the truth that they were being manhandled
by the friars. the novel also portrays the abuse, corruption, and discrimination of the Spaniards towards
Filipinos, it was also banned in the country at the time. Rizal dedicated his second novel (El
Filibusterismo) to the GOMBURZA – the Filipino priests named Mariano Gomez, Jose Apolonio Burgos,
and Jacinto Zamora who were executed on charges of subversion. The two novels of Rizal, now
considered as his literary masterpieces, both indirectly sparked the Philippine Revolution.
