Thank God the author gave to the Almighty God because of his guidance so that the

writer could complete the preparation of this paper as an assignment in English course. This

paper is about How To Learn English For Beginners.

In the preparation of this paper, the author found challenges and obstacles but with

assistance from various parties the challenges could be overcome. Therefore, the author

would like to express his gratitude to all those who have helped in the preparation of this

paper, hopefully his assistance will be received in the same manner from the Almighty God.

The author realizes that this paper is still far from perfection both from the form of

preparation and material. Constructive criticims from the reader so that the author expects to

refine the next paper.

INTRODUCTION

A. Background

English as an international language has an important role in everyday life when

people in this world. English has an important role in education, employment,

entertainment, electronic communication, and travel so that this proves that English is

very important to master. This means that people who come from diverse

geograpichal, religious and cultural backgrounds have a media that is agreed to

communicate with each other, namely English.

In the current era of globalization, English seems to have become a compulsory

ability that must be possessed by students or professionals. Because English is an

international language which means, in communicating in the international world we

must use English. Not mastering English means being unable to communicate

internationally. Besides, most quality literature uses English and has not been

translated into Indonesian Language.

But there are still many people who do not realize the importance of English.

They assume that English is difficult and not important for their lives.

beginners, the methods used to learn English and the benefist for our lives.

 CHAPTER II

DISCUSSION

A. Ways To Learn English For Beginners

In learning foreign languages including English is very important for us to learn

and dive in the grammar itself or in English called grammar. The following is how to

learn English for beginners, namely:

1. Start With the Basics

In learning a science, any knowledge is very important for us to start from the

most basic. The basic thing in English grammar is mastery of tenses. Besides that

there are also verbs, adverb, adjective, noun and pronoun, clause and others.

2. Change Habits

Change our habits or hobbies by listening to English language music by

translating the lyrics and determining the position of the grammar that matches the

lyrics. With so long we will get used to English, and can responsibly digest things

that smell of English. After doing exercises with music then we can then proceed

to more complex ones such as watching movies with English subtitles, hearing

speeches or lectures using English.

3. Exercise Regularly

By doing practice directly like talking to friends using English, or we can do it

ourselves, such as when doing daily activities starting from waking up, eating,

drinking, to sleeping we should use English

4. Dictionary

Vocabulary is the most important thing in language. The dictionary itself as we

know it contains so much vocabulary. Therefore, let us who want to learn English

but still feel that their English vocabulary is lacking or always carry a dictionary.

But in this all technological era we do not need to carry a dictionary but can use

features in the gadget such us the use of google translate or download the English

dictionary application on google.

5. Multiply Memorization

We are encouraged to memorize vocabularies. But don’t overload your mind, do it

casually like memorizing vocab in the song we like or the basic vocab around us.

Make sure to memorize it in a relaxed state, in addition to fast memorizing, but

also very good for keeping memorized so it is not easy to forget.

6. Master Phrases

After memorizing several vocab, it is sometimes possible to strat composing

sentences based on the memorized vocab. So memorizing and fluency in grammar

will be accelerated well and carefully.

7. Study Group

Group learning can be done with friends or studying at a particular course. This is

so that when we learn do not experience problems because they do not understand

something which later is feared can cause boredom and boredom in learning.

8. Brave

A person’s character also affects the speed or failure of him in understanding

English. People who always feel inferior, embarrassed and reluctant generally will

 be slow in learning English. Because what is required in language is

communication, the more and better communication, the better the English

language will be. Never be shy to ask questions and never be ambarrassed to start.

9. Read English Conversation Books

Try reading books or articles that contain everyday English conversations. That

way we wiil be able to understand and learn any words that are appropriate in

their daily activities.

10. Avoid Complex Things

For begginers it is important to avoid complex or complex things like market

language or words that have been abbreviated. Because the word will be a little

complicated for beginners, which is feared to cause beredom.

11. Positive Thinking

In learning a field af science, it is very important for us to remember that all

difficulties and trials are the path that anyone will surely face. Therefore, we must

always be patient and think positively. Never feel like surrender and give up, if we

feel like that then it will be difficult for us to return to the starting point again.

12. Maximize Leraning Hours

Linguistis and those who are able to speak more than one language state that

someone who wants to learn a foreign language should let him study up to 400-

1500 hours of study, adjusted based on the level of language difficulties and the

ability of the language claimant itself. So, if we spend just 4 hours everyday, in

other words we can all master a simple conversation within 3 months.

B. The Method Used in Learning English

Basically, everything always has a fun learning method, with the exception of

English. If we look for things that make us happy about English, we will

automatically learn it. Here are some quick and fun methods of learning English :

1. Learn Through Games

Everyone likes games. That’s what underlies why games are one of the quick and

fun methods of learning English. We mwy often find that in games, the language

used is mostly English. Then, if we want to be adept at playing games, we are

automatically forced to be able to master English.
