Training Descriptions:
This course is designed to provide an in-depth perspective of pump technology in
terms of selection, operation, inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance. Topics
covered include pump types and terminology, centrifugal and positive-displacement
pumps, packing, mechanical seals and sealing systems, bearings, couplings and
other vital components.

Training Objectives:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
 - Understand classification of the different types of pumps.
 - Able to operate pumps as close as possible to the design efficiency.
 - Describe how to monitor pump efficiency, availability and reliability.
 - Learned selection, operation and maintenance strategies.

 Pumps Type, Operation and Technology:
 Dynamic and Positive Displacement
 Pumping methods (centrifugal, rotary and reciprocating pumps).
DAY TWO:
 Theoretical and real performance of pumps.
 Construction of centrifugal and axial pumps.
 Couplings
 Bearing and lubrication.
 Bearing Failure analysis
 Standards: ASME, ISO and API Pumps
DAY THREE:
 Pump operation and optimization
 Sealing types: stuffing box and mechanical seals.
 Wet and Dry gas mechanical seals
 Cavitation, Circulation and Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH).
 Shaft Alignment Fundamentals and techniques

DAY FIVE:
 Maintenance strategies and condition monitoring
 Planned Maintenance - Predictive and Preventive
 Condition monitoring techniques: IR thermography, ultrasonic fault detection.
 Reliability centered maintenance
 Case studies
 Course Conclusion
