Summative Evaluation Report

Michelle Fale-Lampkin
Multiplying and Dividing Decimals
https://sites.google.com/georgiasouthern.edu/multiplyinganddividingdecimals/home
1. List of the instructional objectives from your unit.

Goals for Instruction:

1. Students will be able to correctly multiple and divide decimal numbers given as

measured by the end of the unit

2. Students will be able to correctly write an equation to match the word problem.

Instructional Objectives:

1. Students will be able to correctly multiply 3 digits by 2-digit decimal numbers to find

the correct product on the assessment activity.

2. Students will be able to correctly divide 3 digits by 2-digit decimals numbers to find

the correct dividend on the assessment activity.

3. Students will create a mathematical equation to match the word problem given on the

practice assessment.

2. Description of the assessments that the students completed for the unit.

Quiz: Math word problems- Multiplying and Dividing Decimals

Students will complete a quiz with 7 math word problems. The math problems are

based on real world experiences. Students will use their calculators (accommodations on

IEP). Students will use the following information to answer the questions:

1. Read the word problem two times.

2. Using the CUPS strategy, complete the following steps:

 Circle the important WORDS that tell the operation you need to use.

 Underline the important NUMBERS within the problem that are needed to

solve the question being asked.

 Plan your strategy. Will you multiply or divide to solve?

 Solve the problem.

Project Based Assessment

Students will use the skills gain from the lessons on Multiplication and Division of

decimal numbers to complete a Project Based Learning (PBL) math assessment. The

assessment asks the students to plan for the upcoming Thanksgiving meal for their family.

The PBL style of the assessment will allow the student to apply their new skills on a real-

life problem that they will encounter in life as an adult. Students will work through three

sections in order to complete the assessment.

3. Data for each student for each of the unit assessments.

Quiz

Observed Questions Mixed Grade on Quiz

Students on Quiz
Student # 1 1, 6 75%
Student # 2 1, 3, 6, 7 45%
Student # 3 4, 3 70%
Student # 4 1, 4, 5 55%
Student # 5 1 85%
Student # 6 5, 7 70%
Student # 7 1, 4, 5, 7 40%
Student # 8 100%
Project Based Assessment

I could not complete data on this assessment. My students had a difficult time completing

the assessment without guidance. The assessment was done in groups with guidance. The

students did a very good job answering questions with prompts. Because of my students

learning disabilities they could not independently complete assessment. We used the

assessment as a group project with teachers providing needed guidance.

4. Your analysis of the data from the unit assessments.

The quiz was very informative. I had five students to pass the quiz. I had one student who

made a 100%.

The three students who did not pass increased their baseline score:

Student# 2- Baseline score was a 25%

Student# 4- Baseline score was a 40%

Student# 7- Baseline score was a 35%

The five other students who passed the assessment increased their baseline score:

Student# 1- Baseline score was a 68%

Student# 3- Baseline score was a 55%

Student# 5- Baseline score was a 72%

Student# 6- Baseline score was a 55%

Student# 8- Baseline score was a 75%

5. Field notes that describe the student’s behavior, questions, confusion, etc, while they

were working on the online module.

While observing my students complete the online Multiplying and Dividing online class,

I observed students enjoying watching videos and taking notes. They were able to

navigate the class without any problems. They are familiar with Google Classroom.

My para and I had to walk around and provide extra instructions because my students are

Special Needs. The videos were very helpful when giving extra help or reinforcement.

The students did not complete assignments in time that I thought that they would. We had

to extend time for instruction and practice activities. The practice activities provided

extra help and allowed my para and I to sit and observe how well they were answers

questions before moving on to another lesson.

Word problems were a challenge. We had to use Text-to-Speech in order for several of

the students to complete the assignment. They could not pick out the key terms in order

to decide to multiply or divide. We had to devise a chart in order for them to correctly use

the correct operation.

The Project Based Assessment was confusing. We had to basically work in groups with

students. Special Needs students often need help when dealing with real-life problems.

They were excited when we started the project and they enjoyed talking about their meals

and Thanksgiving. They did a very good job completing the assessment with guidance. I

really could not use the assessment as data because of the amount of guidance needed.

Great all around website! I can tell you put a lot of time into the formatting and choosing resources. I could not find a social media
discussion board on the page, and so I could only award two points on that section. Also, there were multiple spelling/grammar errors on
the site that you might like to clean up. Overall, I really liked the flow and pacing of your lessons.
7. Any additional data you have that will help determine the effectiveness of
the instruction in your module.

8. Finally, include a copy of the peer evaluation you completed for a

classmate's online module.

I had a hard time finding some of the components in 3 of the modules. If I overlooked any of them, please let me know.

I did not see the content curation tools from the article “17 of the Best Content Curation Tools.” I saw a link that took me to a website that
listed several apps or websites. You had a discussion question, but I did not see a social media app. The course rubric and quiz were
accessible and hit the learning target. I did not see any evidence of meeting the needs of diverse learners. The online course did not
contain any differentiated instructions.

I enjoyed reading your online class. If you put in the content curation tools, social media apps, and differentiated instruction and the
assistive technology resources you will have all of the components.
