Objective of the research

The objective of taking the survey was to check the people

preferences and behaviour on the online shopping trend going on
and to know people are satisfied with this going trend.
The survey was taken among the citizens of different society of
different age groups(mostly youths) living in our country.
The responses of the people were quiet shocking because in today’s
era people are more concerned about fast delivery that is time
rather than spending more and quiet expensive.
As you can see that AMAZON is the fastest delivery online platform
in today’s scenario and people are also loving it because of its fast
delivery.
On the other hand FLIPKART is charging lower price as compared to
AMAZON but its delivery time is not as fast as AMAZON so less
people are attracted towards this online platform.
So from the satisfaction point we can comment that people are
willing to pay more and are not willing to give their more time
because they want their needs to be fulfilled as sooner as they can
be fulfilled with no respect to money.
This survey also shows us that the different age groups spend their
money by different modes.
Some people love to purchase things by debit card as they don’t
want any trouble(of being giving cash) after the item is sent.
Some prefer to purchase from electronic wallet, net banking or credit
card.

But most of the people prefer to purchase on COD basis as they feel
comfortable being getting the item first and after giving for that
item.
Most of them are using COD because they don’t trust the online
platform that much as compared to offline one.
As seen in the survey people preferred to buy from all the online
platforms but most of them prefer to purchase items from AMAZON
because they deliver items fast and the items are in the budget of
the people. FLIPKART,SNAPDEAL and any other online platform are
somewhere lacking in it and few people tend to buy from them.
Data and Methodology

Primary data is collected through questionnaires. The

questionnaire included questions on the basis of- age,
gender, do you use e-commerce websites, for how
many years they had been using e-commerce, do they
agree that e-commerce as commercial means has its
advantages over the traditional commercial methods,
which E-commerce site is best according to them,
which mode of payment do you prefer while buying on
amazon, How much is expected delivery time in
Amazon? ,From how many years you have been using
Amazon?, How much are you satisfied from Amazon?,
Sheet 1- (form response)

The overall aim of the written report is to communicate

the survey findings. The information we have gathered is in
form of opinion poll and it’s a form of primary data. By primary
data we mean information that you collect specifically for the
purpose of your research project. An advantage of primary
data is that it is specifically tailored to your research needs. A
disadvantage is that it is expensive to obtain. In sheet one we
have collected responses from 180 people . the questions are
about e-commerce shopping sights preferred by them and
based on this we have come up with various statistical
conclusions. The information we see in first sheet are :
timestamp , email address, age, gender. Do you use e-commerce
websites?, For how many years you are using e-commerce?, Do you
agree that e-commerce as commercial means has its advantages
over the traditional commercial methods?, Which E-commerce site is
best according to you?, Which mode of payment do you prefer while
buying on amazon, How much is expected delivery time in
Amazon? ,From how many years you have been using
Amazon?, How much are you satisfied from Amazon?,
And bases on this we have measured mean, median, mode
and correlations between various data

As we know we have collected responses from 180 people based on

those replies we have come to the above conclusion . in the table
above we are calculating the mean median, mode, and standard
deviation .
Mean – mean is the simplest and easiest to understand, aand fulfils all
the criteria of satisfactory average. Mean of a set of observation is
defined as their sum divided by number of observation.
Median – median of a set of observations is the value of the middle-
most item when they are arranged in order of magnitude. It can be
calculated from a grouped frequency distribution either (i) by using
simplest interpolation in a cumulative frequency distribution , or (i)
by using the formula
Mode- mode is a set of observations is that value which occurs with
the maximum frequency
Standard deviation – standard deviation of a set observation is the
square-root of the arithmetic mean of squares of deviation from
arithmetic mean.

In the third sheet we try to analyse consumer’s behaviour and we try

to know how satisfied consumers are by Amazon. The serial number
1,2,3,4,5 shows us the level of satisfaction . and the graphical
presentation does the same . in the figure and chart above we see a
huge number of consumers are clustered in number 4 that is 47%
which means that the level of satisfaction here is “more satisfied”.
And again the parameters used are mean, median, mode and
standard deviation which a vividly explained above.
Sheet 4: (sights preferred by
people)

E-Commerce sites most prefered by people

E-Commerce Site No. of users

Amazon 124
Flipkart 35
Snapdeal 2
Any Other 19

From this figure we can see that Amazon is the most preferred e-
commerce sites by people over the others. There are numerous e-
commerce sites we use out of which we have picked up major names
and tried to figure out the sites most preferred by people
Sheet 5: (mode of payment)

MODE OF PAYMENT:
There are many options available for payment in e-commerce sites, in
which Cash on delivery, Debit card, Credit card, Net banking, are the
most common.

Mode of payment No. of users

COD 123
Credit Card 10
Debit Card 35
E Wallet 1
Net Banking 11

Majority of people are using Cash on delivery option as a mode of

payment.
The pie-chart shows the distribution of people as per their preferred
mode of payment.

Parameter Value
Mean 36
Median 11
Mode COD
Standard Deviation 50.2394267
C.V. .7165

In this case our mean value is 36, which signifies that majority of out
data is concentrated around 36.
Here our median is 11, which means that in our data the values are
lying equally above and below 11.
The mode here is coming out to be COD which means majority of
people prefer COD.
The coefficient of variance is 0.7165 which is relatively low and
hence signifies comparatively lesser deviations.
Sheet 6: (correlation)

Satisfaction and expected delivery date

from Amazon

Satisfaction is somehow related to the delivery time

that E-commerce sites takes to deliver a particular
thing ordered by the customers. Generally, they
seemed to be more satisfied or happy when the
delivery time is less for their order.

In our analysis, we have taken expected delivery dates

to be 0-1,1-2 and so on till maximum up to 5-6 days
and satisfaction levels are being rated by customers on
a scale of 1-5, 1 being the lowest and shows a certain
amount of dissatisfaction and 5 representing the most
satisfied rating.
By the survey that we conducted we saw that the
customers were most satisfied when the expected
delivery date is between 2-3 days. Also, we saw that
people hardly expected the delivery date to be
between 0-1 days showing that they don’t expect the
delivery to come on the same day and the very next
day and they were least satisfied when they expect the
delivery time to be between 5-6 days. This shows that
there exists a relation between the satisfaction level of
consumers and the expected date of delivery. Higher
the expected time for delivery, lower is the consumer’s
satisfaction.
