“Management Science is a multidisciplinary field.” Explain.

Management Science is concerned with developing and applying

models and concepts that help to illuminate management issues and
solve managerial problems. It uses tools from different and
traditional fields like Operations Research (OR), mathematics,
statistics, industrial engineering, psychology and sociology and
also from cross-functional, multidisciplinary and research
linking practitioners, reflecting the diversity of the management
science.

Are Operations Research and Management Science different from each other?

Operations Research and Management Science are the terms can be

used interchangeably to describe the same field. Operations
Research is the term found in the time of World War II by United
Kingdom, whereas the Management Science is the term used by
United States people. These two parties argue that Operations
Research is too military oriented than management, where
management science mainly uses the techniques to solve managerial
problem. But in practice, there were no real differences between
these two terms.
