Hinsdale FFA is celebrating
National FFA Week, Feb. 16-23.
This FFA Week embraces more
than 91 years of FFA traditions
while looking forward to the
organization’s future. Nearly
670,000 members participate in
National FFA Week activities at
local, state and national levels.
These members have a passion for
agriculture.
Designated a national week
in 1947, the week of George
Washington’s birthday, National
FFA Week runs from Saturday to
Saturday and gives FFA members
an opportunity to educate the
public about agriculture. During
the week, chapters conduct a
variety of activities to help others
in their school and community
learn about FFA and agricultural
education.
Today’s FFA members are
the innovators and leaders of
tomorrow. Through agricultural
and hands-on learning, they are
preparing for more than 250
unique career opportunities in the

The American Legion meeting will be held on
Thursday, 21st at 7 PM at the VFW.
On the agenda are Draping our Charter for Bill
Sugg, Gordon Olson, and Jerry Ketchum; preparing for
the District #1 meeting in Glasgow which will be held
on March 31st; Montana Boys State; and Memorial Day.

And speaking of Boys State, Donald Brabeck has
signed on to be a participant of an exciting week June
2nd through 7th on the campus of Carroll College in
Helena.
American Legion Boys State is among the most
respected and selective educational programs of
government instruction for high school students. It is a
participatory program where each participant becomes
part of the operation of his local city, county and state
government.
Participation in Boys State exposes boys to the rights,
privileges, duties and responsibilities of a franchised
citizen. The training is objective and practical where
students are elected to various offices, and function in
those offices.
Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings,
law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands and
chorus as well as recreational programs.
American Legion Posts select high school juniors
to attend the program and pays the expenses associated
with attending the program. If any local juniors are
interested in attending, contact District #1 Commander
Jeo Yeoman a call at 263-0080.
The American Legion organized Boys State in 1935
to counter the fascist inspired Young Pioneer Camps.
