Subject- Mathematics
Class- XI
Time: 3 hours M. M.: 100

General Instructions:​ -
1. Please check that this question paper contains ​03​ printed pages and ​26​ questions.
2. All questions are compulsory.
3. The question paper consists of 26 questions divided into three Sections A, B, C. Section A comprises of
6 questions of one mark each, Section B comprises of 13 questions of four marks each and Section C
comprises of 07 questions of six marks each.
4. All questions in Section A are to be answered in one word, one sentence or as per the exact requirement
of the question.
5. There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in 04 questions of four marks
each and 02 questions of six marks each. You have to attempt only one of the alternatives in all such
questions.
6. Use of calculators is not permitted. You may ask for logarithmic tables, if required.

Section- A
1. A gentleman has 6 friends to invite. In how many ways can he send invitation cards to them, if he
has three servants to carry the cards?
2. Find the value of p for which the lines px + 3y = 4 and 3x - 4y =7 are perpendicular to each other.
3. If the standard deviation of a set of observations is 8 and if each observation is divided by , find
the standard deviation of the new observations.
4. One end of a diameter of the circle x​2 ​+y​2 -6x +5y -7 = 0 is (-1, 3). Find the co-ordinates of the other
end.
5. Find the ratio, in which the line joining the points (2, 4,-3) and (-3, 5, 4) is divided by the XY plane.
6. Find the probability of getting a total of more than 10 in a single throw of 2 dice.

7. The function is defined by f (x) = {x2 , x ≤ 0 x, 0 < x < 1 1x , x ≥ 1 . ​Draw the graph of
f (x) .

8. In any triangle ABC, show that .


9. Find the equation of the line through the intersection of 5x − 3y = 1 and 2x + 3y − 23 = 0 and
perpendicular to the line 5x − 3y − 1 = 0.
OR
A vertex of an equilateral triangle is (2, 3) and the equation of the opposite side is √3 x + y-2 = 0.
Find the equation of other two sides.

10. In how many ways can the letters of the word “HONESTY” be arranged ? Think about the value of
HONESTY acquired in your life.
OR
5 girls and 3 boys have been selected for President’s Bravery awards. These 8 children have shown
exemplary behavior in adverse conditions. During meeting with the President, they have to stand for
a photograph with him in a line. The President has to be in the middle. In how many ways
photographs can be taken? Also find number of ways when all the boys and all the girls stand
together.
11. Find n, if the ratio of the fifth term from the beginning to the fifth term from the end in the expansion

12. An arch is in the form of a parabola with its axis vertical. The arch is 10 m high and 5 m wide at the
base. How wide is it 2 m from the vertex of the parabola?
13. Find the equation of the ellipse with centre at origin, major axis on x-axis and passing through the
points (4, 3) and (6, 2).
14. Using the principle of mathematical induction prove that-

15. Three numbers whose sum is 21 are in A.P. If 2,2,14 are added to them respectively, the resulting
numbers are in G.P. Find the numbers.

Find three numbers in G.P whose sum is 52 and the sum of their products in pairs is 624.
16. A tree stands vertically on a hill side which makes an angle of 15​0 with the horizontal. From a point
on the ground 35 m down the hill from the base of the tree, the angle of elevation of the top of the
tree is 60​0​. Find the height of the tree.
17. Find the derivative of sin(x+1) from first principle.
18. Four students in traditional dresses represent four states of India, standing at the points represented
by O(0,0,0), A( a, 0,0 ), B(0, b , 0) and C(0, 0, c ). Find the place, in terms of coordinates, where a
girl representing ‘BHARATMATA’ be placed so that ‘BHARATMATA’ is equidistant from the four
students. What message does it convey?
19. Out of 100 students, two sections of 40 and 60 are formed. If you and your friend are among the 100
students, what is the probability that
(a) you both enter the same section?
(b) you both enter the different sections?

21. Find the equation of the straight lines passing through (3,-2) and inclined at an angle 60 with the
line .
22. Solve the system of inequalities graphically:
x + 2y ≤ 10; x + y ≥ 1 : x − y ≤ 0; x ≥ 0, y ≥ 0

Solve the system of inequalities graphically:
2x + y ≥ 4; x + y ≤ 3 : 2x − 3y ≤ 6; x ≥ 0, y ≥ 0
23. If 4- digit numbers greater than 5000 are randomly formed from the digits 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7, what is
the probability of forming a number divisible by 5 when :
(i) the digits are repeated ? (ii) the repetition of digits is not allowed?
24. A number of four different digits is formed with the help of the digits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in all possible
ways. Find :
(a) how many of these are even?
(b) how many of these are exactly divisible by 4?
(c) how many of these are exactly divisible by 25?

26. The mean and standard deviation of 20 observations are found to be 10 and 2, respectively. On
checking, it was found that an observation 8 was incorrect. Calculate the correct mean and standard
deviation in each of the following cases: (i) If wrong item is omitted (ii) If it is replaced by 12.
